About you: At The Works the fun doesn’t stop with our hearth-baked bread...from smoothies, to handcrafted drinks, to quinoa bowls and much more. A Shift Leader is passionate about learning all aspects of the café. Shift leaders are excited to share and educate staff and customers about what drives us! You’re motivated, detail-oriented, and you love food. You have prior food service experience and are looking to develop leadership skills for the future. You enjoy working with others and feel comfortable directing, training and mentoring fellow team members.
Job Overview:
We’re looking for fresh, friendly faces to join our team in Portland, ME! More than glorified key holders, our Shift Leaders are an invaluable part of our store operations. You ensure efficient daily workflow, assist managers with administrative tasks, and mentor your fellow staff members in a position of responsibility with an opportunity for growth.
Position Type: Full-time and part-time positions available
Duties Include:
- Develop staff by giving timely, honest, and on-going feedback
- Oversee daily administrative requirements such as cash handling
- Adhere to established operational and service standards with commitment and passion to helping fellow staff do the same
- Ensure all restaurant equipment is properly maintained to ensure safety and sanitary standards
- Assist the General Manager in ways that will help build the cafés profits, strengthen the company culture, improve customer service, food quality, and team members’ morale. A successful candidate must have a strong commitment to the guests, exceptional communication skills, and positive experience working with corporate systems that contribute to efficient execution. Must be able to stand and walk for periods of a minimum of 8 hours for each shift, and be able to reach, bend, balance, and transport objects repeatedly during a shift.
