Rotochopper is seeking to add a Factory Service Technician to our team!
In the Service Technician role, you will be responsible for providing the highest level of technical support to Rotochopper customers across the globe. The Factory Service Technician is knowledgeable in heavy equipment operation, troubleshooting hydraulic and mechanical systems, and has a working knowledge of diesel engines. The position will manage customer relationships and handle day-to-day customer service calls, as well as customer training. The position will be located in the St. Martin, Minnesota facility and will travel as needed to support the service function.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure customers communication is a top priority by being available, answering questions and building rapport.
- Provide customer support and education, working with users to identify needs, determine sources of problems, or to provide information on product use, parts ordering, and factory support over the phone or through email.
- Troubleshoot and test mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturers' specifications.
- Diagnose faults or malfunctions to determine required repairs, using engine diagnostic equipment such as computerized test equipment and calibration devices.
- Troubleshoot and test electrical units, analyze results to evaluate performance and determine the need for adjustment.
- Read blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematic drawings, or engineering instructions for assembling electronic units.
- Operate and inspect equipment to diagnose defects.
- Research, order, and maintain parts inventory for services and repairs.
- Read and understand operating manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings.
- Identify and resolve equipment malfunctions, partnering with engineering, production and R&D as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Two-year technical school degree in Diesel/Heavy Equipment or related field and/or at least three years or more of mechanical experience is preferred.
- A working knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, diesel engines, fuel and other systems is highly desired.
- Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to establish and maintain. effective working relationships at all levels of the organization.
- Demonstrated excellent work-ethic with self-motivation, ability to work safely with no supervision on customer job. sites, while maintaining company and customer expectations of thoroughness and customer service.
- Basic computer skills required using Microsoft Office Suite programs and file sharing.
- Ability to read and follow intermediate measurements, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Must have the ability to obtain or carry a Class A CDL and DOT health card, with a clean driving record.
- Working conditions include office and professional as well as work including industrial environments as well as outside temperatures and all-weather conditions.

This position is located onsite at Rotochopper’s manufacturing facility in St. Martin, MN.
