Position: Tableau Administrator

Full-time / Permanent

Position Summary:

We are seeking a Tableau Administrator to manage the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and monitoring of the Tableau Server. The ideal candidate for this position has at least 5 years of experience in Tableau Server administration. They must be an expert in researching and testing new enhancements and upgrades to ensure the stability and smooth operation of the Tableau Server. They must have strong communication skills and be able to collaborate with business partners to identify and resolve issues related to the Tableau Server environment and optimize its performance. They must also have experience coaching business teams on best practices for Tableau utilization, features, and functionality, and be able to keep the Tableau Server environment organized and optimized. Familiarity with ETL processes and SQL coding is a plus.

Required Skills:

• 5+ years of experience in Tableau administration
• Expertise in researching and testing new enhancements and upgrades to ensure stability and smooth operation of Tableau.
• Ability to resolve issues related to Tableau and optimize its performance.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with business partners from various parts of the company
• Ability to handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously with competing priorities
• Experience coaching business teams on best practices for Tableau utilization, features, and functionality
• Strong organizational skills to keep the Tableau Server environment organized and optimized
• Familiarity with ETL processes and SQL coding is a plus

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the operation of Tableau, ensuring its smooth functioning and availability at all times
• Research, plan, test, and execute upgrades ensuring that they are stable and running smoothly
• Collaborate with business partners to encourage the use of best practices in dashboard development and data extraction.
• Identify and resolve issues that impact server usage, coordinating with NetOps, Security, and Tableau Support.
• Monitor the Tableau environment using various tools to optimize performance and minimize downtime.
• Proactively monitor long-running queries/jobs/extracts, identify bottlenecks, and propose optimization solutions.
• Keep up-to-date with new Tableau features.
• Enable Tableau feature implementations including but not limited to patching, upgrading, and regression testing of Tableau.
• Develop internal dashboards for system monitoring, cloud service usage, audits, metrics, etc.
• Create necessary technical documentation.
