Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Principal / Senior Principal Structural Engineer to join the Flight Systems Team. This position is in Roy, UT and supports the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program. Final grade level offered will be based on candidate experience.
What You’ll Get To Do:
The selected candidate will perform basic to advanced structural analysis and support the development of On Board Test Equipment (OBTE). The OBTE package will be integrated into missile system for flight tests. Responsibilities include:
Perform structural analysis including static, dynamics, and stability.
Create Finite Element Analysis (FEA) models and perform systems and sub-systems structural analysis.
Compute margins using appropriate analysis methods.
Review of requirements for materials, structure systems & subsystems.
Participate and present in internal and external (customer) design reviews.
Manage and track multiple priorities while maintaining focus on common project goals.

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
You’ll Bring These Qualifications:Sr. Principal Engineer: Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) discipline and 9 years of experience; 7 years with Master’s Degree; 4 years with PhD
Principal Engineer: Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) discipline and 5 years of experience; 3 years with Master’s Degree; 0 years with PhD
Experience performing Coupled Loads Analysis and rigid body dynamics analysis for missile and launch vehicle programs
Experience supporting test flights and developing day-of-launch loads placards
Experience performing analysis utilizing hand calculations and or software packages such as FEMAP, NASTRAN, or ABAQUS
Have broad technical experiences in mechanical engineering and/or aerospace engineering disciplines.
Must have US Citizenship and an Active DoD Secret clearance or higher, granted or re-investigated within the last 6 years
Must have the ability to obtain, and maintain access to Special Access Programs (SAP) as a condition of continued employment
Proficiency with the following FEA software packages: ABAQUS, LS-DYNA, and ANSYS
Exposure to structural test applications
Experience with Missile or Launch Vehicle programs powered flight phase analysis
