Job description
The Senior Technical Product Manager – Web & Mobile plays a critical role in ensuring that Society web and mobile products or services meet the needs of users by leading, implementing, maintaining, and enhancing the product(s) within the Digital business capability. They bring deep product, functional, and industry expertise to proactively develop solutions to drive key capabilities and Society strategy.
This role partners closely with the Digital business capability stakeholders and Business Relationship Managers to understand the business needs and usage of their web and mobile products and how they enable the Society's strategy. They lead the creation and maintenance of the web and mobile product roadmap acting as the subject matter expert for projects and enhancements that intersect with the product. This involves eliciting user stories and requirements, prioritizing a roadmap of work and partnering with Engineering, Technology Operations, and vendors to deliver the solutions. They have a solid technical knowledge of their product(s) including functionality, data, and integrations that assist them in working with engineers and vendors as well as explaining the possibilities and/or limitations to business stakeholders.
The Senior Technical Product Manager – Web & Mobile is essential in ensuring that our Society digital products are optimized to enable the critical work of over 800 staff members in 40+ offices around the United States, thousands of volunteers.
- Leads solution architecture to evaluate business requirements and devise solutions in the form of new or enhanced products or services
- Collaborates with the Business Relationship Managers and key stakeholders to develop, manage, and communicate the web and mobile product(s) roadmap
- Works to understand the priorities and key concerns of the stakeholders
- Proactively identifies and presents solutions based on inputs related to business opportunities and/or problems
- Develops user stories, business needs, feature considerations/needs per user type
- Anticipates and plans for what stakeholders will need
- Articulates design in business and technical terms and translates appropriately based on audience (business vs engineering)
- Leverages industry expertise and awareness for the capability area's product(s) as well as the solutions utilized to enable these capabilities
- Focuses stakeholder discussions on business needs vs solution specifics
- Partners with solution vendors to align design roadmaps with Society needs
- Consults with Business Relationship Managers and business case owner to forecast and approximate benefit and effort of a project or enhancement, applying experience and leveraging comparable benchmarks
- Works with Portfolio Management to sequence approved work (project, enhancements, etc.), understanding value generation vs level of effort
- Partners closely with and/or influences solution vendors to align roadmaps and prioritize work efforts conducted by the vendor
- Partners with the Business Relationship Managers to maintain a log of web and mobile tools/systems supporting their capability product suite and appropriately dispositioning them in the application lifecycle (e.g., Tolerate, Invest, Mitigate, Eliminate)
- Collects user stories and business requirements related to stakeholder needs. May partner with a Business Analyst where appropriate.
- Partners with Engineering, Application Support, and/or Vendor to prioritize work backlog and solution delivery
- Manages vendor relationship and coordinates with stakeholders to communicate and plan for:
o Product feature releases
o Required/optional upgrades
o Planned & unplanned maintenance windows
o Vendor's roadmap
o Contract renewals
- Works with Quality Assurance Analyst to execute solution testing plans
- Leads solution development and deployment through appropriate governance (e.g., Product Change Control, Architectural Review Board, etc.)
- Drives, monitors, ensures, and reports solution adoption through key change management techniques including clear communications and training approaches
- Measures benefit once projects or enhancements are launched and factors learnings into future prioritization and forecasts
- Partners and leads solution through key vendors where necessary
- Collaborates with other Society Technical Product Managers and Project and Portfolio Management to develop, deploy, and maintain product management best practices (e.g., processes, tools, templates, etc.)
- Collaborates with other Society Technical Product Managers to develop a functional maturity roadmap for Product Management
- Regularly identifies areas of improvement to the Product Management lifecycle
- Support local market, including but not limited to attending market meetings
- Be available to work local market events
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent work experience. An advanced degree is a plus
- Excellent business analysis skills are required
- Requires 10 plus years' experience in information technology settings, often complex and/or fast-paced
- Demonstrated ability eliciting, documenting, and verifying business requirements/needs with multiple departments and functions
- Experience with complex solution design (logical design required; technical design a plus)
- Ability to effectively summarize detailed and complicated information
- Ability to interpret technical language into business terms and business language into technical terms
- Proven ability to influence senior leadership, peers, and vendors
- Experience working in a matrix organization is a plus
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and teaming skills including skills and experience in executive level communication and presentations
- Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize work and complete tasks within timelines
- Results oriented “change agent” with the ability to successfully interface with all levels and areas of the organization
- Vendor management experience including contract negotiations, SLA management, and product roadmap influence
Technical Experience:
- Product Management experience required (must be IT products/systems)
- Salesforce - Experience Cloud (a plus)
- Salesforce - Service Cloud (a plus)
- Salesforce - Marketing Cloud (a plus)
- Agile experience and/or certification is a plus
- Non-profit experience is a plus
- Experience leading and developing product roadmaps for web and mobile products required
- Search Engine Optimization (SEO) experience a plus
- Content Management System (CMS) experience a plus
- E-Commerce experience a plus
- Position may require travel up to 10% of the time
Estimated compensation range for this role is$85,000-$120,000annually. Final offers will be based on candidate geographic location, consider career experience and may vary from this range due to these factors.
