Job description
The Traffic/ITS Department is actively seeking a creative, self-driven, highly talented Traffic/ITS Design Lead for employment in the Raleigh, NC office.As a Traffic/ITS Design Lead in the Traffic/ITS Department, you will assist with a variety of work including traffic signal design and operations and ITS design/operations/communications/planning. We regularly perform hands-on signal operations and communications design/integration work, so you'll have the opportunity to troubleshoot traffic signal equipment and input signal design parameters into our traffic signal lab to test designs. You'll also have the opportunity to develop and design on projects not only in North Carolina but across the US.
If you are a successful applicant, you can look forward to joining a large, dynamic, and highly technical team of engineers and analysts who are driven to provide exceptional traffic and ITS services to our clients. Activities include, but are not limited to:
+ Lead design of intersection and traffic signal design projects according to each agency’s standards and plan development processes.
+ Plan and design communication networks and physical infrastructure
+ Produce project deliverables including construction plans, specifications, cost estimates, and technical reports
+ Effectively manage assigned projects/tasks and be in responsible charge of task activities and schedule
+ Manage client expectations to ensure the client is highly satisfied with the project(s), and coordinate directly with the DOT clients to implement or manage the implementation of any of the above systems
+ Develop new business by fostering existing and new client relationships
+ Periodic travel required within North Carolina and neighboring states (occasionally)
+ Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
+ Bachelor's in Civil Engineering
+ Professional Engineering (PE) license in North Carolina or ability to acquire within 6 months
+ 8 plus years of experience in traffic signal design
+ Experience in MicroStation
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills, good time management skills, a strong work ethic, attention to detail
+ Valid driver's license required with a clean driving record
Preferred Qualifications
+ 10 plus years of experience in traffic and ITS engineering, including traffic signal and ITS design
