Senior Scientist
This is an exciting opportunity to join one of the top specialty chemical distributors in the world. You will be able to join a team of dedicated professionals serving the global industries Azelis represents. This position operates in the Coatings, Adhesives, Sealants, Elastomers (CASE), Construction and Textiles spaces with state-of-the-art laboratories in Covington, GA and Oak Creek, WI. (The open position based in Wisconsin.)
The position demands a leading industry expert based on experience and contributions with a record of consistently steering growth in emerging technical trends. The position includes hands-on laboratory bench work requiring clear technical thinking, consistent focus on safety, good communication skills, enthusiastic collaboration, and the abilty to guide or teach other scientists.

Mission
To collaboratively lead the laboratory team in delivering innovation through formulation, training commercial and technical colleagues, and providing new formulations for use by the sales team. This position provides technical guidance to the market segment for the region it serves and liaises with the global lab organization. The Senior Scientist works closely with the lab leaders and commercial colleagues in identifying and selecting projects with both technical feasibility and tangible commercial opportunity. They will work with technical teams from Principals in application areas. This position typically requires deep technical understanding of the science behind the products and formulations used in the market segment for the region, plus the ability to think beyond current industry offerings.
To develop formulations for promotion of Azelis products and inclusion in customer formulation projects. Use career experience to create innovative formulations and expanded application areas within the CASE market segment.

Main Accountabilities
- Develop formulations and formulate samples for use by Sales Team and customers
- Act as a leading Azelis technical expert with forward vision and deep insight into future technical trends. Provide technical guidance for our lab projects and areas in which we should focus.
- Routinely provide expert customer support with clear, concise, and timely communication.
- Represent Azelis expertise with key principals and at industry events
- Lead the development of project plans in collaboration with Lab Manager, senior lab staff, commercial colleagues, customers, and principals.
- Develop theoretical technical insight into unanticipated formulation behavior and use this to develop innovative formulations.
- Prepare formulations and conduct evaluations of the performance.
- Develop new test methods for formulation performance testing.
- Interpret lab results. Form and report sound conclusions and recommendations in a clear manner.
- Contribute new understanding of unanticipated results.
- Build the Azelis knowledge base for future projects and communicate learning to our global labs.
- Deliver a steady stream of unanticipated technical innovations over time.
- Use digital tools as they are developed for the betterment of Azelis knowledge sharing.
- Implement laboratory procedures
- Maintain good Health and Safety Procedures in the laboratory at all times. Contribute to improved procedures.
- Assist with the management of the laboratory by ensuring accurate records are kept in line with regulatory requirements, maintaining stock records where required, and perform maintenance on equipment.
- Provide technical training for our commercial and technical colleagues on our lateral value chain of products and the formulations comprised of them. This may include occasional travel.
- Communicate/Share knowledge and discoveries with technical and commercial colleagues on a regional and global basis as appropriate.
Experience, Skills & Education
- BS degree minimum; MS or PhD preferred.
- Broad related industry experience and understanding Operational experience in the market segment served or an adjacent field
- Analytical approach and attention to detail
- Excellent listening skills and ability to write and speak clearly and persuasively
- Ability to liaise with people at all levels and to influence and achieve results through others
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to quickly learn new systems and product technologies

Qualifications:
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.

Computer Skills:

Pay: $120,000.00 - $160,000.00 per year
