Job description

The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for the planning, design, configuration, implementation, testing and transition to steady state support of Infrastructure such as network, telecommunication, server, storage, or software across the enterprise. They will partner with peer engineering teams on best practices, process, standards, and configuration management. The Engineer evaluates vendor supplied hardware, components, and software packages for fit and performance and makes recommendations to IT management. The Engineer maintains technical documentation for telecommunications, network, server, storage, and system software applications. The Engineer diagnoses isolates and de-bugs hardware and software problems and performs problem resolution. The role is responsible for delivering solutions that are stable, secure, scalable, and cost effective, as well providing escalation support to the administrators.

Responsibilities:

• Design, execute and maintain a network system that includes all necessary hardware and networking components.
• Establish and maintain relationships with vendors.
• Demonstrate advanced knowledge of the design of routed and switched networks involving LAN, WAN, and dial access for larger networks.
• Keep up to date on new equipment technologies to be able to make cost-effective recommendations to management.
• Execute network operating system software (such as Cisco IOS) upgrades, patches and new releases on a regular basis.
• Design configures and installs network devices like Cisco Switches, WANs, services virtualization and routing protocols
• Build scalable internetworks, build multilayer switched networks, and design network service architecture.
• Monitor the system on a regular basis to ensure smooth operation and to identify and report operational problems that may arise.
• Evaluate new software technologies for integration into the company's system.

Experience and Education Requirements

• Demonstrate advanced knowledge of the design of routed and switched networks involving LAN, WAN, and dial access for larger networks.
• Required 3-5 years of experience of progressively responsible experience
• Advanced knowledge of the network design concepts and principles required to develop multi-layer enterprise architectures and network components.
• Strong understanding of the business and industry
• Able to identify, prioritize, and solve complex network-related problems
• Able to work in a fast-paced complex and dynamic environment
• Poise under pressure and comfort with ambiguity
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Active CCNA required; CCNP recommended
