Job description

Applecart was founded in recognition of a challenge: the most influential individuals – executives, investors, policymakers – have historically been the most difficult to access. Large organizations have often spent hundreds of millions of dollars to reach a handful of these people. Applecart's technology is designed to level the playing field.

Applecart is the leading technology platform creating a new category of "Decision Maker Marketing". From enterprise sales and corporate communications to government relations and employee engagement, the most sophisticated C-suite leaders use Applecart to manage their brand with business-critical decision makers such as policymakers, investors, CEOs, key employees, members of the media and more.

Traditional digital targeting technology can help organizations reach a mass audience, but it doesn't really move the needle on critical outcomes. Decision makers are informed by what they read, learn from advisors, hear from colleagues, and discuss with family and friends. To break through to them, you must reach them through the only channel that really moves them: those they know and trust. Applecart's platform uses publicly available or fully permissioned data to map billions of social relationships between nearly American adult. By making this data addressable in a privacy compliant way, Applecart enables clients to market directly to decision makers and those that matter most to them.

A few quick facts about us:

  • Applecart's platform has been used by hundreds of industry-leading clients spanning Fortune 500 companies like Blackstone and Intuit, leading nonprofit organizations like the Environmental Defense Fund, and top-tier communications and public affairs firms like Teneo, Sard Verbinnen, and Weber Shandwick.
  • Applecart is growing quickly—over the last several years we've averaged 122% revenue growth year-over-year.
  • Our senior leadership team includes two members of the 2021 Forbes 30 under 30 list for Marketing and Advertising, the former Head of Product at Moat, Oracle's online ad measurement platform, a former senior White House advisor, an early sales leader at Google and Twitter, and two of the Democratic Party's most successful pollsters and strategists.
  • Our investors include global sports, entertainment and marketing giant Endeavor, KKR Co-Founder Henry Kravis, entrepreneur Chris Burch, a founder of Palantir, senior engineering leaders at Twitter and Yelp, former Fortune 50 and advertising agency CEOs, and a number of well-known venture capitalists. Endeavor CEO Ari Emanuel and Owl Capital Managing Partner Jennifer Fonstad serve on our board.
  • Our work has been featured on Morning Joe on MSNBC, Bloomberg and The Colbert Report, and in Axios, BusinessWeek, the Associated Press, Forbes, the Washington Post, and Politico, among many others.

About the Role

C-suite-level clients have come to expect exceptional results from Applecart's platform and thoughtful, strategic counsel from our team–that's why we've been able to grow at an astonishing rate. Applecart's Senior Managing Director is a seasoned strategic communications leader and/or C-suite advisory veteran responsible for building, managing and deepening meaningful relationships with Applecart's Fortune 500 C-Suite clients. If you're thrilled by the prospect of bringing cutting edge technology to the C-Suite that changes how Fortune 500 companies manage their brand with their most important stakeholders and you're willing to roll up your sleeves to take on a new challenge with massive upside, this may be the last job you ever take.

What You'll Do

  • You'll manage C-suite relationships with Fortune 500 clients and prospects across the full lifecycle of an Applecart engagement, from an initial sale to advising on strategy and demonstrating results.
  • You'll work with our senior advisors and product leaders to educate C-suite clients and potential clients about all the different ways Applecart's platform can enable them to impact the most important stakeholders in their business.
  • You'll closely follow news, regulatory filings and other media, looking for every opportunity to create value for clients in a timely way.
  • You'll be our clients' expert on-call, serving as a senior strategist, consigliere and primary executive-level point of contact to decision makers at the highest levels on Fortune 500 corporate communications, public affairs, and marketing teams.
  • You'll coordinate internal resources to deliver results that exceed client expectations; bring in resources external to Applecart where and as necessary to maximize client chances of success

Who You Are

  • You have 15+ years of experience working in-house at a Fortune 500 company in corporate communications, external relations, brand marketing and/or public affairs functions AND/OR advising Fortune 500 C-suites on these topics at a top-tier strategic communications or management consulting firm.
  • You have a deep understanding of C-suite stakeholder communications challenges faced by Fortune 500 companies.
  • You are entrepreneurial and hell-bent on delivering value to your own stakeholders, in this case, Applecart's clients and potential clients.
  • You read the news religiously and stay up to date on the latest corporate developments and political news–if we asked you what the cover stories on yesterday's WSJ were, you would know the answer almost all the time.
  • You aren't afraid of government agency alphabet soup and know the difference between the FTC, FCC, FDA, FAA, FRA, FHA and FNMA. Nor do you need anyone to explain the terms "proxy fight", "10-K", "activist investor", "SPAC" or "IPO".
  • You are an excellent writer and verbal communicator.
  • You have impeccable attention to detail.
  • You possess an energetic, upbeat disposition.
  • You have an excellent sense of humor and know how to roll with the punches.
