We are in search of a Senior Internal Controls Analyst to join our Internal Controls Department in Rocklin, CA. This full-time position reports to the Director of Internal Controls and is responsible for preparing and ensuring high quality internal controls over financial operations and reporting. This position is in-office, with occasional remote work as an option, if desired.
Compensation Information
The Base Salary for this position is $70,000 - $95,000. Position is eligible for an annual incentive program in addition to the base compensation.
Job Requirements
The Senior Internal Controls Analyst performs a variety of functions including, but not limited to: • Assists in the design, testing, and implementation of new accounting or other systems, software upgrades, and automation projects by providing input on system functionality, design, and internal controls.

  • Serves as a representative on project teams and other work groups as assigned to support the design of internal controls, with an emphasis in system and system integration controls.
  • Manages continued internal control enhancement areas, providing recommendations to ensure successful completion within desired time frames.
  • Monitors and evaluates internal controls for financial operations and reporting processes, including developing recommendations to ensure risks are adequately mitigated.
  • Oversees functions within the accounting team to maintain segregation of various duties where appropriate; this may include reviewing reconciliations or transactional activities.
  • Maintains internal control processes and documentation for the organization in compliance with GAAP, FCA financial regulations, IRS regulations, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Provides technical support related to internal controls and acts as a liaison within the organization with other teams and external auditors on internal control related items.
  • Researches and analyzes existing, new, or proposed Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and regulatory matters as needed.
  • Expresses complex concepts and/or provide training in a concise fashion, verbally and in writing, with a broad range of users with different backgrounds and experience levels.
  • Coordinate and lead process and control walkthrough meetings with process owners and internal and external audit

Minimum Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business or related field or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • Three to five years related and progressively responsible experience
  • Knowledge of finance and accounting principles
  • Advanced understanding of internal controls concepts including the COSO internal control framework and the ICFR provision of the Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) act, application/implementation and internal control standards, financial reporting, and high attention to detail
  • Exposure to general ledger systems

Preferred Requirements

  • Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and/or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) certification strongly preferred
  • Master’s degree or MBA
  • Five or more years related and progressively responsible experience in IT internal controls across multiple operating systems with complex operating integration points
  • Working knowledge of controls automation processes, procedures, and technology
  • Demonstrated ability to drive completion of multiple initiatives effectively and efficiently as an individual contributor and team member, simultaneously influencing change and motivating team members
  • One to three years of experience in “Big 4” or other large public accounting or consulting firm, including experience at the in-charge level with audits, or equivalent combination of “Big 4” and other large public accounting or consulting firm and accounting/financial controls experience
  • Working knowledge of SOC 1 reports and evaluation of results
