Job Overview:

The Program Management/Construction Management (PMCM) Division of APTIM is seeking a highly experienced and talented Senior Construction Manager/Project Manager (PM) to manage large vertical construction projects in New York City. The candidate will have in-depth experience managing Design/Build projects/programs from concept through design, construction, commissioning and closeout. The candidate will have extensive experience managing onsite construction inspection activities on major vertical construction projects such as Design/Build of Bus Terminals, Bus and Rail Maintenance Facilities and other Public Buildings/Facilities. The targeted salary for this position is $175k-$225K.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Provide construction management oversight, including client relationships, managing scope, schedule, budget, deliverables and change orders for Design/Build of facilities and buildings, associated infrastructure and site improvements.
  • Plans, organizes, coordinates, and controls the project/program in accordance with Client's policies, procedures, systems, and requirements.
  • Review RFI's, Submittals and Change Orders
  • Implements proper documentation on project changes to support potential Change Orders and/or Claims.
  • Responsible for performing constructability reviews of design documents; analyzing all technical aspects of construction, reviewing and recommending major construction changes to the Client, and supervising construction inspection activities for all phases of the project lifecycle.
  • Monitor construction progress and quality
  • Facilitate and/or coordinate resolutions to questions or other construction issues
  • Serve as subject matter expert on construction matters
  • Participate in project meetings and planning sessions
  • Serve as a liaison with client, staff and construction management teams
  • Assist with coordination and execution of utility and service shut-downs and start-ups
  • Through active risk management, protects the Client from unnecessary risks; maintain Risk Register.
  • Oversees activities of technical and administrative support and ensures that deliverables are produced on schedule and within budget.
  • Applies technical and managerial expertise to improve effectiveness and provide guidance to project staff.
  • Track project close-out issues
  • Management of construction management staff
  • Coordination and issue resolution with Design Builder
  • Lead commissioning and start-up testing management.
  • Establishes and monitors project safety and quality programs

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering
  • Valid Professional Engineering license (PE) in the New York State
  • Minimum of 15+ years of experience in construction management, engineering, and consulting industry, specifically on major Capital Infrastructure projects involving vertical construction such as Bus Terminals, Bus and Rail Maintenance Facilities and/or Public Buildings and Facilities.
  • Experienced in managing large Design/Build contracts in New York City.
  • Excellent communications and client relations skills.
  • Must have the ability to manage a large staff of field personnel and work as a team player.
  • Must have a self-starter attitude with proactive, results-oriented focus; and willing and capable to assume additional responsibilities.
  • Must be able to interface with a variety of people with different technical levels and educational backgrounds and must be able to produce accurate and timely results while maintaining a positive attitude.
  • A Valid Driver's License.
