SENIOR ACCOUNTANT
Accounting and Finance
CLASSIFICATION: Exempt
SALARY GRADE: 6
Job Summary: This employee is responsible for performing challenging accounting tasks in maintaining and reviewing financial accounts and records according to the policies of the West Virginia Housing Development Fund (the “Fund”). They are expected to work independently with minimal supervision. This employee will have access to sensitive and confidential data; therefore, confidentiality must be maintained at all times.
Essential Functions:
- Responsible for the maintenance of General Ledger Software and upkeep of vendor maintenance and W-9 forms;
- Reviews daily: all general ledger activity, deposits, and write up;
- Prepares and analyzes monthly financials;
- Prepares audit assistance schedules;
- Prepares accounting schedules, financial statements, and reports as required;
- Assists in the preparation of the annual operating budget and revenue projections;
- Responsible for preparation, mailing, and filing of annual 1099 and 1098 statements;
- Responsible for all aspects of Accounts Receivable Module.

Work Environment/Physical Demands: The employee in this position may be required to sit at a desk for long periods of time. Routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, etc.
Required Education/Experience: Associate degree with a minimum of three years accounting experience focusing on general ledger and financial statements. Knowledge of Microsoft Office with focus on Excel and accounting software.
Preferred Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree with accounting emphasis.
