Senior Accountant Position:

Gulf Coast Panama Jack (GCPJ), the industry leader in the import and wholesale distribution of Panama Jack products from Louisiana through Mississippi, Alabama and Florida to the everglades. We are located in Panama City Beach, FL. We carry a wide variety of beach products, including apparel, head wear, towels, chairs, umbrella, body boards, bags, coolers, sand toys, games swim gear and much, much more. With additional warehouses in Orange Beach, AL, Orlando and Sarasota, FL, we provide quality service with prompt product delivery.

GCPJ is seeking an accounting professional who is detail-oriented, self-motivated and has advanced accounting skills and knowledge. This position is a local, in-office position and is an excellent growth opportunity within the company.

Responsibilities:

The position is responsible for managing and actively participating in the month end closing process and preparation of monthly financial statements and operational reports. The position is also responsible for overseeing the preparation of supporting schedules, performing certain variance analysis as well as performing daily transaction processing. In addition, the position participates in the annual audit and will have an active role in implementing process improvements.

The ability to multi-task on various projects is critical to ensure tasks are completed timely. The position will also provide ongoing financial-related support to the management team.

Detailed Requirements:

Manage and actively participate in the month-end closing process, which includes, but is not limited to, journal entries, month end accruals, Fixed Asset and depreciation schedules, sales and use tax filing & compliance, bank covenant requirements, royalty reports, etc.

Responsible for the integrity and accuracy of the general ledger account balances

Prepare the financial statements and other operating reports

Prepare the reconciliation of banking, credit card processing and payroll accounts/functions

Have a thorough understanding of existing processes and make recommendations on improvements and implement them

Oversee the Accounts Payable process and assist the Accounts Payable associate with certain functions related to the acquisition of inventory.

Responsible for the basic bookkeeping of four (4) other smaller entities with minimal monthly transactions

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field (or extensive work-related experience)

CPA or related master’s degree is a Plus!

A minimum of three (3) years of accounting experience

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, etc.)

Extreme attention to detail

Ability to work independently as well as with a team, self-starter, energetic

Critical thinker with an analytical approach

Experience with ERP and other accounting software (Microsoft, preferred)

Ability to multi-task and manage many projects at one time
