SECURITY DEVICE TECHNICIAN
REPORT TO Chief Operations Officer
GENERAL SUMMARY Install, program, maintain and repair security cameras and alarm equipment and ensures work is in accordance with relevant codes for Thompson Security, LLC
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS Install, maintain, or repair security systems, alarm devices, and related equipment. Examine systems to locate problems such as unseated SIM cards or loose connections. Mount and/or fasten video cameras, and any other security systems. Utilize wood screws and drywall mounts to install device base into wall studs, joists, ceilings, and other areas as required. Test and repair devices to system specifications. Test backup batteries, programming, sirens, and all security features in order to ensure proper functioning, and to diagnose malfunctions. Keep informed of new products and developments. Request orders for replacement parts. Performs a variety of marginal duties not listed, to be determined and assigned as needed. Extensive travel is required for this position. All expenses are paid for or reimbursed by the company. Identifies, troubleshoots, and resolves hardware, software, and basic network related problems encountered by end-users of the network.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. This position requires a valid driver’s license, Background Check, and the ability to obtain a Washington State Security Guard License and City of Seattle Burglar Alarm Installer Identification Card.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Base knowledge of modern technology is a must.
LANGUAGE SKILLS Communicates effectively in both oral and written communications. Communicates with supervisor, peers, subordinates and other Company staff; working as part of a team contributing to Company goals.
REASONING ABILITY Job requires being careful about detail and thoroughness in completing work tasks. Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts and draw conclusions drawing upon experience, research and input from peers. This position performs multiple job tasks on a daily basis. Discuss unusual or complex problems encountered to the Chief of Operations for input and/or direction.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The position requires lifting up to 50 pounds and frequent prolonged periods of standing, bending, pulling, twisting, reaching, climbing and standing.
WORK ENVIRONMENT While performing the duties of this position; the employee may be exposed to weather conditions from 100 degrees to below 0 degrees and exposed to various climates and conditions. Wearing of safety clothing and equipment may at times be required.
