Security Officer Job Description (Generalized)

  • Assist guests, tenants, and clients with support in a fast-paced environment.
  • Provide exceptional customer service while maintaining a safe and secure work environment.
  • Preparing and maintaining all required written reports, including but not limited to: Daily Activity Reports (DAR’s), Incident Reports, and Passdown Reports.
  • Uses organizational skills to perform multiple tasks within a limited time-period.
  • Is self-motivated and requires minimal supervision.
  • Professional appearance and attitude.
  • Team player attitude.
  • Promptly and effectively communicate all safety and security concerns seen in and around the site using two-way radio, site phone, and/or email.
  • Monitor CCTV and alarm panels for emergency and entrance into buildings.
  • Performs other security duties as assigned.
  • Follows site post orders/company policies and procedures.
  • Work successfully with both a diverse team and guests.
  • Responds and assists during security and emergency situations.
  • Flexibility to work occasional extended hours, evening hours, and holidays.
  • At the direction of management, may be assigned to perform duties of varying capacities to ensure complete client satisfaction.

Education and Experience:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • English Language: Able to read, write, speak, and be understood clearly and easily.
  • Previous experience in a customer-focused environment preferred.

Competencies, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (Generalized):

  • Ability to follow written and/or oral instructions.
  • Strong customer focus; treats all guests with respect and courtesy while maintaining security protocols.
  • Effective verbal communication skills; clear, respectful, and appropriate communication to all guests. Must be able to work fluently in English.
  • Effective digital communication skills; professional and concise email and report writing.
  • Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be dependable and reliable to report at work on-time when scheduled.
  • Must be able to work independently and in a team.
  • Must be able to obtain/maintain a valid Security Guard License (Guard Card)

Physical Activities and Working Conditions (Generalized):

  • Indoor and outdoor work environment, subject to fluctuation in temperatures, exposure to the sun and elements.
  • Must be able to walk, run, and climb stairs.
  • Must be able to stand in place or have limited movement for duration of time.
  • Must be able to occasionally bend, stretch, push, and/or pull up to 20 lbs.
  • Must be able to use communication tools such as two-way radios, site phones, and email.
  • Must be able to read documents, see signage and provide verbal, and physical support.

As a condition of employment, all candidates must provide proof of HS diploma (or equivalent) as minimum education requirements, provide a negative drug screen result, and be subject to a comprehensive background check, including national criminal search.
