About AstraZeneca in Waltham, MA:

Our Waltham, Massachusetts facility develops life changing small-molecule research in North America, with innovative laboratories at the Gatehouse Park BioHub, just west of the city center. Our BioHub facility supports a bold new R&D initiative, which cultivates life science discoveries and the exchange of ideas. Here, we play host to some of the most ground breaking technology and lab spaces, all designed to inspire collaboration and cross-functional science. Summary of the group:

Animal Sciences and Technologies (AST) is a global department that delivers in vivo studies, animal care, and welfare that is compliant to internal standards and external regulations. Principles of the 3Rs are applied to all aspects of animal care and study conduction.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

In this role you will provide care for animal models of cancer research by providing animal husbandry and technical support in the in vivo support team. You will work flexibly with other team members to learn new techniques and provide support across teams. Responsibilities include:

• Conducting daily health assessments and communicating findings to others

• Providing daily care for animals including cage changes

• Administering test articles as directed

• Providing support to the veterinary team and the vivarium management team

Education & Experience Requirements:

Education: High school diploma is required, Bachelor’s degree in Biology or a related field is preferred

Experience: 1+ years of experience in working with animals or the AALAS certification

Required experience & skills:

• AALAS certification or experience in laboratory animal science
• In vivo skills with a variety of animal species

Preferred experiences & skills:

• Experience in pharmaceutical research
• Experience in Oncology disease areas and research
• Experience in an Oncology lab
