Mattie Rhodes Center (MRC) has been serving Kansas City youth and adults from diverse populations since 1894. MRC operates out of five locations in the Greater Kansas City area. Current programming focuses on mental health, domestic violence, family education and support, youth development, substance abuse, Latino cultural arts and arts education. Mattie Rhodes Center serves as a resource and advocate for Kansas City’s Latino community and operates with an annual budget of $2 million.

Responsibilities:

The School Service Coordinator will work to create an integrated community focus on academics, family support and engagement, health and social services and youth/community development within the communities of North Kansas City Schools. schools. More specifically, this position will be responsible for supporting relations between NKC schools and the diverse multicultural students, families and community members served. This position is responsible for leading initiatives to build a sense of safety, connectedness, and belonging between schools and communities; connecting families to culturally relevant, available, and accessible community resources, and will lead community engagements such as education, training and relevant cultural events. In addition, this position will coordinate parent/student referrals to appropriate community organizations to meet identified social needs. This is a non-exempt position and requires flexibility in work hours.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree social work, psychology, or other related field and 2 or more years providing services.

• Extensive knowledge of community resources

• Experience with school-age children. creativity, flexibility and strong character values necessary.

• Experience with trauma-informed practices

• Experience in a family service agency working with diverse urban populations.

• Commitment to cultural competency in provision of services and organizational development.

• Computer Literate, Excel, Work, PowerPoint

Bilingual (English and Spanish)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.35 - $17.31 per hour
