McLean Hospital’s Arlington School is an exceptional, nationally recognized college preparatory high school that integrates strong academics with clinical support for students with mental health issues that can interfere with their education.
The school nurse will be responsible for both routine and emergency health care services at Arlington School.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Demonstrates competency in the area of school health as defined by policies and procedures.
- Plans for the health care needs of students effectively.
- Provides effective assessments of student health status.
- Administers medication to students, as prescribed, at various times during the school day.
- Maintains school health records.
- Provides on-going consultation to staff around health issues.
- Ensures that first aid supplies are available in all necessary locations.
- Provides first aid student and staff.
- Communicates effectively with students and staff.
- Establishes a positive room environment.
- Maintains and models appropriate standards of behavior, mutual respect and safety.
- Strives to insure equitable treatment and care of all students.
- Demonstrates continuing concern for professionalism.
- Maintains materials, facility and records in a professional manner.
- Collaborates effectively, with faculty and clinical colleagues.
- Provides supervisions of students and other duties as assigned.
Valid Massachusetts RN License
BSN preferred
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
. Licensed RN in Massachusetts
. Experience with Adolescents with complex mental health issues preferred.
All employees must possess basic computer skills to use a variety of electronic or online systems for communication, clinical and administrative purposes.
For eCare Clinical Positions:
Required to complete electronic medical records training, and demonstrate 80% accuracy on competency test within 30 days of hire.
