GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Actively train to fulfill the position of Sales Representative by performing sales, merchandising and vacation relief functions in assigned accounts to achieve company’s desired results and goals in relationship to sales, distribution, merchandising, marketing and service of all Capital Distributing products. This position is considered a safety sensitive position as defined by the Drug and Alcohol Abuse Prevention and Testing Program as allowed under the State of Oklahoma House Bill 2612 (aka “The Unity Bill”).
RESPONSIBILITIES/JOB DUTIES (this is not all-inclusive):
Sales
- Each week, ensure that assigned accounts have been properly sold, merchandised and serviced.
- Achieve personal company objectives in regard to sales volume, displays, distribution and merchandising each month as prescribed by management.
- Maintain good professional relationship with all account decision makers and store personnel.
- Complete all paperwork on time as prescribed by management.
- Maintain route book daily and use sales history as a selling tool.
- Make call on new, non-buy and special event accounts within the assigned territory.
- Respond to account complaints within 24 hours of occurrence.
- Pursue and take advantage of all opportunities in each assigned account for shelf management, promotions and other sales generating situations.
- Ensure that all account records are properly maintained and up to date (licenses, contracts, etc.)
- Manage Out of Date/Breakage to <$.02 per case.
Merchandising
- Secure primary position for displays and permanent POS with each account.
- Ensure that all price features and ad activity are priced utilizing non-permanent POS. Pricing must be competitive with comparable competitive brands and packages within the marketplace.
- Utilize current POS when available and maintain current or seasonal themes within your accounts.
- Understand and utilize price flow merchandising for cooler sets within your accounts.
- Prepare all special instructions and POS materials that will be needed by the merchandiser and driver on a daily basis.
- When necessary call back on accounts to assist or complete the merchandising of delivered products.
- Upon each sales call, merchandise the complete product line including shelf restocking, filling displays and replenishing the cold vaults. Adhere to all quality assurance policies of Capital Distributing and its Suppliers.
General
- Conduct daily inspections of your company vehicle and immediately report any maintenance items.
- Communicate and cooperate with all departments of the company to further efficiencies and ensure the smooth operation of the company as a whole.
- Maintain a positive relationship with all customers, co-employees and management.
- Maintain appropriate dress and personal appearance.
- Know, understand and adhere to all company policies and procedures.
- Promote company goodwill in all areas, assist others and perform tasks as appropriate and/or necessary to help maintain the positive image of Capital Distributing in the market.
- Complete all assigned training in a timely manner.
- Adhere to all applicable Federal, State, County, and local regulations regarding the sale and merchandising of products.
- Maintain a current and appropriate driver’s license.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- At least 1 year of sales experience required
- Strong computer and technical skills
- Must be organized and able to prioritize
- Capable of strategic thinking and planning
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Must have valid driver’s license and good driving record
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to drive, sit or stand for extended periods of time
- Must be able to lift, push or pull 25 to 50 lbs
- Must be able to twist and reach overhead
- Must be able to crawl and/or climb a ladder
