Come grow with us! We are looking to hire top talent to join our dynamic team. Dragon Xpress offers full benefits and a competitive compensation package. The Safety and Compliance Manager position is based in Oak Brook with occasional travel to Sturtevant, WI.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate safety as a core value by supporting safety initiatives, encouraging engagement and meeting all safety expectations.
  • Responsible for compliance, safety, and maintenance of a fleet of approximately 15-20 drivers as well as leased equipment nationwide.
  • Ensure compliance with Federal and State safety and driving regulations including FMCSA and DOT through training, mentoring and monitoring of drivers.
  • Assist with developing and implementing critical safety and compliance initiatives through the execution of orientation and related onboarding, as well as periodic ongoing, training
  • Verify roadworthiness and keep maintenance records for leased tractors and trailers.
  • Perform administrative functions including IFTA filings, PAIC Registrations, ordering overweight permits in various states, as needed.
  • Monitor all compliance items including physicals, licenses, randoms, HOS and ELD compliance.
  • In the event of an accident, act as a liaison to Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS), attorneys, insurance agents, other individuals, and the company.
  • Ensure compliance with all corporate EHS and Transportation Department directives and requirements.
  • Interact with outside regulatory agencies, other ND Paper Team Members, ND Paper Leadership and members of the public.
  • Assist dispatch with planning operations for drivers as needed.
  • Assist dispatch with monitoring and optimizing loads to ensure efficient utilization of equipment and drivers as needed.
  • Work directly with management to create strategic plans that improve safety, compliance, operational efficiency and teamwork.
  • Assists in the development, evaluation and upgrading of safety programs.

Required Experience:

  • 2+ years of safety, compliance, and DOT experience
  • Knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, Drug & Alcohol Regulations and other Regulatory Guidance.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Electronic Logging Device (ELD) rules and regulations, Samsara system a plus
  • Previous experience in intermodal drayage and trailer linehaul is a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong business acumen and analytical skills
  • Experience using Microsoft Office – Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word
