Under the direction of the Director of Retail, manages the Wings and Pipeline retail stores that sell a variety of logo merchandise.

Position Functions / Areas of Responsibility

  • Delivers a great shopping experience to Snowbird customers through effective staff training and measurement of service guidelines.
  • Works with the Recruiting team to interview and hire staff. Coaches, motivates, and develops staff in a team-oriented goals-oriented environment. Manages the store schedule and reconciles payroll data in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Works collaboratively with retail buying team to ensure optimal product mix and replenishment. May source and purchase small categories of retail sundry and gift items.
  • Is responsible for conducting regular physical inventory class counts and twice annual full-store inventories.
  • Works with Retail Administration and Finance to manage monthly operating budgets in order to meet company performance and profit expectations.
  • Responsible for managing daily transactions in a manner that accurately accounts for cash and inventory.
  • Maintains the store and storage areas in a safe, clean and organized manner in order to minimize risk to employees, guests and the inventory.
  • Works as part of a retail management team, assists in setting divisional goals, supports and implements company and divisional policies. Willing to assist in other areas of retail operations as assigned by Retail Administration.
  • Works floor-shifts often, juggling management tasks with working in the shop directly with customers. This is a very hands-on management role.
  • Travel: Occasional business trips within/outside Utah.

  • Must have the ability to interact at any time with guests and other employees in a pleasant manner and maintain good working relationships with others and all departments at Snowbird.
  • Management of 7-15 full time equivalent employees.
  • Budget and sales responsibility of up to two million.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • College degree in related field preferred. Additional related work experience may be substituted for education.
  • 2-4 years of job-specific work experience with demonstrated competence.
  • Applicants must have a background in retail operations and leading a team of retail salespeople. Experience with P&L management, scheduling, payroll reconciliation, purchasing, and merchandising is highly desirable.

Specific Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Advanced written, verbal, reading and listening skills. Reading, writing and arithmetic with accuracy.
  • Competence in planning, organizing, leading and controlling. The ability to work in a sometimes deadline driven and stress-related work environment.
  • Excellence in customer service.
  • Outstanding "people-person" with ability to work effectively in a variety of teams.
  • Competence leading employees in a goal-oriented win-win working environment.
  • MS Outlook, Word and Excel proficient. Knowledge of, or ability to learn, WinRetail (inventory/back office), Siriusware (Point of Sale), Kronos (payroll system), and other retail management systems.
  • Accounting skills, including the ability to compile operating budgets, analyze profit and loss statements and strategically manage inventory levels.
  • Work with a large degree of autonomy. Exercise judgment in accordance with company and divisional policies and procedures. Maintains a solutions-oriented attitude and seeks assistance when roadblocks get in the way. Must be proactive and persistent. Honesty and integrity are paramount.

Work Schedule

  • Shifts vary, may be early morning or late evening, weekends, holidays, depending on business levels and scheduling needs.

Working Conditions

  • Must be prepared to stay overnight if necessary on occasional times of road closures.
  • May experience unusual stress from high business volumes, deadlines, continual work with public, winter conditions, snow night requirements and commuting to/from Snowbird.
  • Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Must demonstrate ability to bend, kneel, handle, reach, grasp and perform repetitive motions.
  • Work is routine in a pleasant retail shop and office environment.
  • Work is subject to frequent interruptions making continuity and accuracy difficult, frequent exposure to noise.
