The Residential Advisor is a critical entry level position in our student dorm. From there, employees can be promoted to Residential Coordinator, Center Shift Supervisor, Counselor and beyond!

The Exeter Job Corps Academy is looking for a Residential Advisor to work in the student dorm and provide students ages 16-24 with a safe, clean, and structured living environment that fosters student retention, satisfaction, achievement, and success in the Job Corps program. As our student body continues to grow, we need more qualified candidates to round out our talented, caring staff.

We support the Job Corps program’s mission to teach eligible young people the skills they need to become employable and independent and place them in meaningful jobs or further education. Our center specializes in Culinary Arts, Welding/Construction, Electronics Engineering, and Patient Care.

EMPLOYMENT AT EXETER JOB CORPS
Employment at Exeter Job Corps is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check, employment verification, education verification, professional reference check and motor vehicle record check.

Here is the schedule for this role:

Sunday, Monday, & Tuesday 3pm-12am / Wednesday & Thursday OFF / Friday & Saturday 3pm-12am

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for providing guidance to students while maintaining a positive dormitory living environment
  • Host dorm activities/groups and assist in recreational activities on and off Center. Dorm activities can include: holding required dorm meetings, host arts and crafts, game night, etc.
  • Foster positive peer relationships along with leadership role modeling techniques
  • Assist in student retention by providing an interactive, comfortable living environment that is conducive to students achieving their goals while in the Job Corps program
  • Provide proactive conflict resolution. Counsel students in areas of behavior, training, personal hygiene, and study habits
  • Conduct accountability for any minor students during an hourly roll call throughout the shift

Qualifications:

  • Must be 21 years or older to apply
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required, A.S. or B.A. preferred for promotional opportunities
  • A minimum of one year working with youths preferred
  • A valid driver's license preferred
  • Physical requirements include sitting, standing, climbing, walking, lifting, pulling and/or pushing, carrying, reaching, stooping, and crouching.
