Position Summary

This position in the Immuno-Oncology Group (IO-IMM) at Arvinas is laboratory-based and requires strong experimental skills, and the ability to effectively partner with team members in order to deliver quality data in support of early drug discovery efforts.

This position reports to Director of IO-IMM and will be located at our headquarters in New Haven, CT.


Principal Responsibilities

Key responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Employ ex vivo cellular and gene expression profiling (e.g., flow cytometry, QPCR), immunoassays methodologies (ELISA, MSD, Luminex)
  • Design and execute cellular functional assays (restimulation, cytotoxicity) to characterize compounds’ effects on tumor immunology, autoimmunity and immune cell function/phenotypes across different research programs
  • Design and coordinate in vivo experiments in collaboration with project leaders and in vivo team
  • Collaborate with senior investigators/project leaders to plan and subsequently execute on project specific experiments and analyses
  • Interact and collaborate with IO-IMM and Chemistry team members to contribute to drug discovery and development program progression, target identification and validation
  • Keep abreast of relevant biology, novel technologies, and methodologies across immunotherapy, tumor biology and IO
  • Manage laboratory notebook, databases, and spreadsheets to effectively record and communicate results

Qualifications

  • General knowledge of immunology related to immunotherapy and tumor biology
  • Demonstrated ability to independently design, QC, validate, and execute ex vivo/in vitro assays
  • Proficient in multicolor flow cytometry (DIVA platform experience a plus), western immunoblotting, ELISA (MSD or Luminex based multiplexing a plus), and tissue digestion protocols
  • Hands on experienced in immune-relevant tissue (e.g., spleen, lymph node, tumor) dissociation methodologies, cell proliferation, cell viability, functional assays and gene expression profiling
  • Proficient in aseptic tissue culture techniques: mammalian cell culture, immune cell culture, cell lines, and primary human and mouse cell preparation, enrichment and isolation. Isolation techniques such as density centrifugation and magnetic bead-based isolation a plus.
  • Experienced in immune-relevant tumor models, such as syngeneic murine tumors, a plus
  • Excellent data handling and recording skills as well as oral and written communication skills
  • Organized and enthusiastic with demonstrated ability to work both independently to plan and execute experiments in a collaboratively and matrixed team environment

Education

  • BS/MS with 8+ years' related experience or PhD in immunology with 2+ years’ (or equivalent) in biomedical or post-doc research. Focus on immuno-oncology or immunology lab experience highly desired.
