Job description
Work within the Taylormade Research department to use engineering principles, computer simulation and computer programming techniques to measure, predict and understand the performance of golf equipment. An ideal candidate would leverage creativity, curiosity, teamwork and communication skills to help develop innovative and cutting-edge golf technologies.
Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform modeling, simulation and optimization work to support product performance research in the area of structural dynamics, impact, vibrations, and acoustics.
  • Use experimental procedures to aid in understanding golf equipment performance.
  • Use computer programming to create and maintain software tools to simulate performance and solve complex problems.
  • Collect, organize and analyze large datasets in multiple databases.
  • Collaborate closely with teams responsible to create, design and manufacture golf equipment.
  • Compile and effectively communicate reports and summaries of results.
  • Perform other related duties and assignments as required.
Knowledge and Skills Requirements:
  • Practical knowledge of finite element analysis (FEA), structural dynamics, computer simulation, and meshing techniques, preferably Abaqus and Hypermesh.
  • Practical programming skills in MATLAB. Other programming skills such as SQL, Python and C/C++ are a plus.
  • Practical knowledge of experimental techniques.
  • Practical knowledge of optimization techniques, with Machine Learning experience a plus.
  • Sound knowledge of engineering theory and design criteria.
  • Basic knowledge of manufacturing methods.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills to work within the research team and coordinate with multiple internal customers.
  • Knowledge of the game of golf is a plus.
  • Ideal candidate would be methodic but flexible, meticulous, reliable, imaginative, curious and persevering.
  • The ability and drive to continuously improve and learn new skills and methods.
Education, Work Experience and Professional Certifications:
  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering with 3 years related experience or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering.
Work Environment / Physical Requirements:
  • Normal office conditions, heavy computer use
  • Ability to work extended hours as necessary
  • Light physical effort equal to frequent lifting or moving of lightweight materials
TaylorMade is a performance driven organization and our total rewards approach to compensation is designed to support this. We consider many factors in determining base compensation, including position scope, job related knowledge, education, skills, experience, and work location. The expected annual base pay range for this position is $85,000 – 90,000. Additional benefits, such as health & wellness, performance bonuses, product discounts, holidays, paid time off, etc. may also be offered in accordance with our plans.
