Job Summary

Robotics is looking for a team-oriented professional to provide support for our hands-on robotics laboratory courses. You will develop robots and infrastructure, software, and tools that are used in our instructional labs (autonomous vehicles, drones, underwater robots, robotic arms). You will help us develop software and web tools for new undergraduate level lab courses, make improvements to our top ranked graduate program, and support the needs of our Department. Robotics is the newest department in the College of Engineering, and as a member of our team you will have the chance to grow along with us. You will report to the Robotics Systems Laboratory Instructor.

Responsibilities*

  • Develop software infrastructure to support instructionals labs including Linux systems, Github repositories, course websites,robotics software libraries and custom web applications
  • Develop course software resources, including ROS packages, Python scripts, and embedded firmware.
  • Engage with students, including undergraduate and graduate students within robotics courses, and pre-college students participating in outreach programs.

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelor of Science degree in computer science, engineering, or other relevant discipline or a combination of experience and education
  • Software experience in diverse environments (ex. Python, C, C++, and JavaScript) with proficiency in several
  • Proficiency in using Linux command line and networking protocols
  • Work with open-source software libraries
  • 1+ years of experience with web app design
  • Experience with firmware development for embedded systems (i.e. Raspberry Pi, ARM)

Desired Qualifications*

  • Master's of Science degree in computer science, robotics, engineering, or other relevant discipline.
  • Expertise in electronics hardware design, embedded software development, real-time control and data acquisition, and some mechanical/mechatronics design.
  • Web development including UX/UI experience and an understanding of web accessibility.
  • Experience in sea/land/air/space robotics.??
