Job description

The CA. Department of Social Services' Housing & Homelessness Division is recruiting for two Research Data Specialist I positions.

Under the general direction of the Section Chief, the Research Data Specialist I (RDS I) will independently design, organize and conduct complicated analysis of CDSS’s housing programs using R/STATA/SAS, ARC-GIS and/or Tableau software. The RDS I will be the lead on the evaluation contracts for the HHD programs. The RDS I will support the division in setting outcome measures, implementing system improvement plans, and using Continuous Quality Improvement methods.

The Housing and Homelessness Division (HHD) aims to promote equal access to safe and affordable housing for all Californians. HHD is responsible for program development and oversight of seven statewide housing and homelessness assistance programs funded by the CDSS.

The Budget Act of 2021 provided a significant and historic total of more than $2 billion for the California Department of Social Services (CDSS) to provide grant funds to counties, tribes, and other eligible entities to establish, continue, and expand housing and homelessness assistance programs to serve clients of local social service agencies with housing supports over the next two budget years. HHD is undergoing extraordinary growth and officially transitioned from a Branch to a Division on July 1st, 2022.

Staff will have the opportunity to help expand and develop this evolving team. We seek candidates who are energetic and mission-driven to assist and lead our team into a new future. Those excited to work on engaging and evolving assignments, to solve complex and ambiguous problems, and engage in continual learning on the job, are encouraged to apply. We are looking for strong collaborators and strategic thinkers, who are able to take initiative and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

HHD fosters a pleasant and flexible working environment. We believe in supporting each other and investing in our team through career development and growth. Our team is passionate and determined, and our work is rewarding.

Must apply through the CalCareers website. Deadline to apply is 11.15.22.

Be sure to take the RDS I exam found on the CalCareers exam search main webpage.
