Qualifications:
The Getty Research Institute's Scholars Program seeks a two-year limited-term Research Associate II, potentially renewable for one additional year. Position realizes and may conceive programmatic projects related to important topics in the field of art history and related disciplines, developing new and innovative approaches. Participates in strategic partnerships and other long- and short- term associations with arts institutions locally, nationally, and internationally. Fosters communications and partnership across other departments and programs of the Getty. Carries on high-level research under little to no supervision that will result in outcomes, such as peer review journal articles and catalog essays.
Major Job Responsibilities:
- Participates in and may manage research and programmatic projects
- Participates in strategic partnerships and other long- and short- term associations with arts institutions locally, nationally, and internationally
- Identifies underdeveloped areas of research in fields of art history and related disciplines
- Fosters communication and partnership across departments and programs of the Getty
- Represents program’s initiatives and projects at public and private symposia, panels, workshops, and seminars, locally, nationally, and internationally Publishes results and participates in research project exhibitions
- Develops a broad network of local, national, and international contacts within the field of art history, and within the field(s) of specialization
- Researches, presents and publishes own scholarship
- Ph.D in art history or related field
- 0-2 years experience in academic setting, research institute, or art museum (education may be considered)
- Fluency in at least one foreign language
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships, partner with and direct teams across disciplines
- Advanced research writing and editorial skills
- Ability to set and meet deadlines for oneself
