Job description
We are seeking a Research Assistant to coordinate data collection and data management activities for a longitudinal study of HIV infection among gay and bisexual men.Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Will assist in consenting participants and administering questionnaires via telephone for research studies.
Will assist clinicians with requesting and receiving medical records for study participants.
Performs data entry, data editing, data quality review and data cleaning tasks, tracks lab data status, resolves data entry problems, designs databases and data entry screens using MS Access, Runs data validation programs, prepares customized reports for study staff and investigators, performs data audits which involve comparing database data with data collection forms. Assists staff with computer and database tasks, assists with data archiving which may include digitizing and organizing documents and performs ad hoc data entry.
Selected applicant will be trained to program and scan study forms using specialized software and hardware.
May assist with web page management.
Other tasks as assigned.

Must be a willing and positive worker who is able to positively adapt to changing priorities in workflow.
Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
Works well in a team environment Intermediate or advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, Word, Powerpoint).
Superior organizational and follow-up skills, and ability to multi-task while attending meticulously to detail.
Must be, a) sensitive to the nature of the work and the confidentiality of study participants, b) flexible and comfortable working with men who have sex with men, and in a diverse office environment, and c) a willing, positive worker, able to take direction.
The successful candidate will be required to pass Protection of Human Research Subjects and HIPAA certification classes, if not already done.
Prior experience working on research studies that use Microsoft Access.
Working knowledge of SAS and familiarity with working with ASCII text files.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in related discipline.
Some related experience.
Additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
