Representative, Admissions

Job Description Summary
The Admissions Representative will maintain relationships with community organizations and attend events throughout northwest Ohio aimed at recruiting prospective students. Recruits and manages a caseload of adult and non-traditional students. Meets with prospective students to walk through the admissions steps. Keeps current on the Owens programs and majors. Helps with events in the Admissions office.

Knowledge
General Knowledge of College programs and services. Familiarity with Wood County. Knowledge of the general college admission process and demonstrated ability to articulate what steps a high school student or an adult learner would take; and how prospective student segment would fit into the college admission timeline. Knowledge of ACT/SAT and Accuplacer placement assessments and how that relates to prospective students’ next steps. General knowledge of the financial aid process and of available scholarships. Knowledge regarding community college student populations and enrollment steps. Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, Banner, Blackboard, Onbase, and the Owens website.

Other Characteristics
Direct community college learning experience strongly preferred. Fluency in Spanish strongly preferred. Demonstrated ability to take initiative and solve problems. Demonstrated commitment to work with a diverse population of students that come from different social, cultural, and economic backgrounds.

Essential Functions

Essential Function
Builds and maintains relationships with area secondary school personnel, community organizations, and businesses contacts, as assigned. This includes arranging visits, providing expert presenters, and aligning College resources to support partners. Represents the College at on- and off-campus outreach activities and events. Coordinates College participation at assigned activities. Presents information to prospective students and guests ranging from individual conversations to large groups.

Essential Function
Follows through with prospective students in timely manner and with appropriate methods. Maintains awareness of and uses social media, new technology, and traditional methods to communicate with caseload of prospective students.

Maintains office hours for assisting students throughout the enrollment process.

Essential Function
Cultivates opportunities for adult and non-traditional students and works to build relationships with area community organizations and employers. Represents the Office of Admissions to create visitation opportunities. Assists with planning and implementing on-campus events and activities, e.g. Expo days, tours, and orientation for new students. Assists the Director of Admissions with assigned initiatives, such as coordinating events, creating outreach opportunities, building relationships with area employers, and targeting specific prospective student segments.

Essential Function
In this role, the admissions representative will give specific and primary attention to populations within a geographic or assigned recruitment territory. The individual must be willing to travel within assigned territory developing relationships with community organization liaisons, attending college fairs, and participating in other admission-related events and activities. The admissions representative will be responsible for assisting prospective students and family members regarding educational and financial opportunities, and for implementing additional applicant and prospective student follow-up activities. Throughout, the admissions representative will demonstrate a commitment to student success and teamwork.
