Job Summary
The Renewables Engineer – QC Site Support (REQC) is responsible for providing day-to-day on-site engineering support of renewables construction projects for the Luminant fleet, which includes solar, energy storage, and other renewable technologies Luminant may develop. The REQC provides leadership and direction of all on-site engineering activities, oversees on-site Quality Control and collaborates with Luminant Construction, Fleet SME’s, and Operations to ensure safe, on-time and on-budget project completion in accordance with design specifications and Luminant fleet standards. Career progression of this position is in adherence with the Luminant Engineering and Specialist Progression Program.
Job Description
- Develop engineering / control system designs and equipment specifications for each renewables project in accordance with Luminant standard specifications and Fleet SME guidance
- Coordinate with vendors and Luminant Construction to streamline major equipment deliveries and inspections
- Provide on-site technical expertise and coordination with Fleet SME resources
- Construct, implement and document Quality Control processes and procedures
- Resolve disputes arising from third-party providers or from within Luminant on-site personnel
- Ensure contract deliverables are interpreted and executed on-time, on-budget and within safety and performance requirements
- Closely monitor project progression and draft change order requests as necessary
- Serve as the interface between Luminant Energy and essential third-parties (Fire Marshal, site insurance, etc.)
- Effectively administer company policies, labor agreements, and work rules
- Work with Luminant Commissioning Manager to ensure all performance tests are completed and Final Completion obtained
- Develop and support documentation turnover from essential contractors during commissioning
- 8+ years relevant experience (power generation operations, maintenance, engineering)
- Ability to look critically at a problem set, identify unique solutions and influence change
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills – to be applied across the organization and externally, including the ability to confidently and effectively explain engineering requirements, including to non-technical audiences.
- Occasional long, irregular hours. May often require the employee to work in excess of 12 hours per day and in excess of seven (7) consecutive days. This position requires frequent travel and/or long-term assignments away from home.
- Bachelor of Science in an accredited Engineering or Engineering Technology program
- Experience gained through college degree programs and/or certifications is applicable to above skills

- Safety, environmental and regulatory compliance
- Production: Direct Commissioning activities to meet corporate goals and objectives related to renewables growth
- Successful delivery of renewables projects to Operations within established financial and production related performance targets
