POSITION TITLE: Registered Nurse/Licensed Practical Nurse
DEPARTMENT: Care Center
REPORTS TO: Director of Nursing, Care Center

The Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act requires employers in the state of Colorado to disclose the following information. Hourly (salary) minimum $21.00, hourly (salary) maximum $35.96. The base hourly (salary) range above represents the low and high end of the range for this position. Actual hourly (salary) rates may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to: experience, education, and training.
Pay is just one component to prospective employees’ compensation package. Compensation may also include shift differentials. JOB PURPOSE: To improve the health and wellbeing of our communities.

BASIC FUNCTION: Promotes the physical and mental health of residents by applying nursing processes. This is done as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team and has the goal of assisting residents to assume responsibility for their own health. Coordinates and monitors medical services, including medication services, in accord with the requirements of regulatory agencies and in response to individual resident needs. Performs a variety of tasks and other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:**
Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program. Valid and active Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse licensure in the State of Colorado required. A temporary permit issued by the Board of Nursing will be accepted until a permanent license is received if awaiting reciprocity. Graduate nurses with temporary permits will function only under the direct supervision of an RN. Graduates must apply for the first available State Board Examination after graduation. In such instance continued employment is contingent upon successfully passing examination. Must have current BLS card upon hire and maintain current status throughout GRHD employment. LPN’s are required to have IV certification upon hire or within one year of employment and maintain current status.

Experience: Prefer one year of professional nursing experience in a nursing home setting.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of professional nursing theory and practice to give and evaluate patient care. Knowledge of organization policies, regulations and procedures to administer patient care. Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care. Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment. Skill in applying and modifying the principles, methods and techniques of professional nursing to provide on-going patient care. Skill in identifying problems and recommending solutions. Skill in preparing and maintaining records. Participation in developing and maintaining department quality assurance. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with residents, medical staff, co-workers and the public. Ability to maintain quality control standards. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures. Ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and written.

Must be able to lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds and be able to push/pull 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

WORKING CONDITIONS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. This position performs tasks that involve Category I exposure to blood borne pathogens, body fluids or tissues. Exposure to patients’ conditions and some unpleasant sights, smells and diseases are common. Frequent exposure to chemical hazards; may encounter radiation hazards. May experience traumatic situations including psychiatric and deceased patients.
