River Place Behavioral Health, a service of Ochsner Health System, provides state-of-the-art psychiatric care for adults who are struggling with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and other mental health concerns. AVAILABLE SHIFTS AND HOURS

We have full and part-time staff RN positions available for day and night shifts. Shifts are 12-hours, 3 days per week with shift differentials available. All full-time RNs rotate weekend shifts.

TRAINING AND ORIENTATION

River Place is committed to training and safety. All new-hire RNs attend general orientation for one week, which includes classroom training, EPIC training, BLS, and CPI training. After general orientation, the nurse begins a clinical orientation with a nurse preceptor which lasts for several shifts. Additional preceptor shifts available as needed

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE REGISTERED NURSE

  • As a Registered Nurse at River Place you will participate in the development and implementation of patients' treatment plan by:
  • Assessing physical and behavioral health needs of patient, develop and implement nursing care plans, maintain medical records and educate patients and their families about various physical and behavioral health conditions.
  • Providing nursing care and services within the standards and scope of nursing practice as defined within the state Nurse Practice Act regulations, policies, procedures and protocols, as well as facility and corporate policies and procedures.
  • Ensuring physician’s orders are legible if taken verbally and transcribed appropriately per policy and procedure.
  • Ensuring patient’s status is assessed on an ongoing basis and pertinent information gathered is documented and notifying physicians of significant changes in status such as difficulties with detox, medical emergency or change in medical status regarding response to medications, etc.
  • Accurately administering medications per ordered note and document accurate count of controlled substance medication administration on required documents.
  • Exhibiting therapeutic rapport with patients by maintaining professional boundaries, being respectful to personal space, giving patient direct attention and maintaining rational detachment.
  • Communicating therapeutically and professionally with patients, visitors, coworkers and others involved in patient treatment in an effective manner.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL/LICENSES REQUIREMENTS:

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Prefer one year of RN nursing experience within the clinical area of service provided by the facility.
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license as required by Louisiana
  • First Aid, CPR, de-escalation, and restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).
  • Experience with EPIC EMR a plus
