JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Title: Regional Sales Manager for Ohio Valley (Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, West Virginia, Western Pennsylvania

James D. Acers Company, Inc.

Our company is under a long-term agreement as the master distributor for Velan Steam Traps in North and South America. We employ approximately 10 people. The main office and distribution center is located in Cloquet, Minnesota. It is less than a thirty-minute drive from the Duluth International Airport in Duluth, Minnesota.

Our company is small enough for each individual to know the total picture and to gain broad experience.

Our company was founded in 1982. We have grown steadily, and we have a very strong financial position.

Our products are sold through manufacturer’s representatives, distributors and directly to end-users. Sales efforts are concentrated primarily on the power, petrochemical and institutional industries. In addition, we are active in HVAC, OEM, mechanical contractor and constructor/engineering markets.

DUTIES OF POSITION:

Specific Responsibilities:

1. Application Engineering: The Sales Manager must have technical knowledge of our products. This involves three categories:

A. Product Performance and specifications
B. Application of products to specific industries and processes
C. Product Troubleshooting

"A" is easily learned, as the bulk of the knowledge is contained in our catalogs. “B" and
"C" are more difficult and are gained by experience and by study of our library of technical literature. Very time-consuming and technically complex applications are referred to the Administrative Engineering section of our Engineering Department.

2. Motivation and education of our distributors. Our distributors handle other lines, and your objective will be to get them to spend a maximum amount of time selling our products.

3. TWIC Card is required for this position.

4. Penetration of new markets where James D. Acers Company, Inc. does not have Velan Steam Trap distributors and appointment.

5. Evaluation of distributors already established. Assisting distributors in attaining their realistic sales quotas.

6. Conduct product training and application seminars for distributors and customers in the field. The seminars will cover equipment application, new products, sales techniques, etc.

7. Termination and replacement, when necessary, of distributors not performing to the benefit of James D. Acers Company, Inc.’s sales and marketing goals.

8. Trips to support evaluate and train new and existing distributor personnel. This includes participation in trade shows, troubleshooting steam trap products in the field, and evaluating valve applications in the world market.

9. Ongoing search for products for which James D. Acers Company, Inc. might obtain marketing license/ownership rights in order to expand existing product offerings.

10. Participation in planning and formation of James D. Acers Company, Inc. marketing and sales strategy.

11. Quotations: Timely Preparation and submittal of quotations to distributors and to customers. These may be simple verbal quotations, or may involve extensive technical documents supplied by the customer. The inside sales staff will assist in this effort.

12. Maintain the correspondence and quote files through daily use of the SalesForce app.

13. Ensure that orders received have the correct financial documentation and back-up so that payment is assured. May assist Accounts Receivable in matters of collection.

13. Other duties as assigned, including but not limited to the following:

  • Have weekly meetings with the company president, marketing promotions, literature, and competitive information.
  • Record all activities into CRM (SalesForce) data base on a daily basis.

General Responsibilities:

1. Communicate with our customers and distributors to answer their technical questions.

2. Interact with other departments in the organization to insure the proper handling of customer requirements.

3. Travel regionally to increase our volume of business through work with distributors, trade shows, and customers.

4. Territory to be Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, West Virginia and the western half of Pennsylvania.

Compensation

Compensation is based upon experience.
