The Regional Recruitment Specialist professionally represents Onondaga Community College both on and off-campus to New York City (NYC), and surrounding area prospective students, parents, families, secondary school counselors and the community. Responsible for proactively identifying, tracking, communicating, and engaging with prospective students in accordance with the College's Strategic Plan, Division Operational Plan, and college recruitment strategy.

Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Student Recruitment, the Regional Recruitment Specialist plans and implements activities, programs and events designed to educate and engage NYC audiences. Manages a territory consisting of high schools, community-based organizations and other organizations and special populations within the New York City metro area including Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Queens. Works with individual prospective applicants from inquiry to application and collaborates and interfaces with staff on the OCC campus to facilitate a smooth transition for students into the college and into credit or non-credit Workforce Development programs.

The Regional Recruitment Specialist coordinates student visits to OCC's campus and recruitment programs, including high school visit days, campus tours, college fairs, community events, open houses, job fairs and other opportunities designed to interact with and promote the college and its offerings to NYC audiences. As such, responsibilities include maintaining currency on OCC programs and services as well as best practices and trends in admission in higher education.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop and maintain contact with a caseload of NYC area prospective students to include telephone, written, and email communications such as live chat, text messaging, social media and other media as they are introduced.
Develop and cultivate relationships with a caseload of NYC area schools, community-based organizations and other connected organizations and populations including prospective students, families, business partners and school counselors.
Coordinate and implement preadmission appointments, high school visit days, presentations, workshops, virtual open houses, career days, college fairs, job fairs and other recruitment efforts; conduct tours and visits for prospective students and families virtually or in person on OCC's campus.
Keep current on trends and best practices regarding the community college industry, community trends, workforce development initiatives and student recruitment and make recommendations as appropriate.
Utilize Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software to track and manage a caseload of prospective students. Update and maintain records with current information as appropriate.
Attend regular team and department meetings both virtually and periodically in Syracuse as required. Assist with, and be present for, college-wide events such as Open House, Accepted Students Days, NYC Visit Days.
All other appropriate duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree
At least two years of recruitment, customer service, sales and/or direct marketing experience.

This position requires:
Local resident of the NYC/Long Island are with a reasonable commute to the following counties: Bronx, Kings (Brooklyn), Nassau (Long Island), New York (Manhattan), Queens, Richmond (Staten Island) and Westchester.
Ability to work remotely and travel both locally and statewide including periodic travel to OCC's campus in Syracuse, NY
Evening and weekend hours will be required
Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
Ability to bring energy, encouragement and positive reinforcement to prospective students throughout their application process and beyond
Experience working with a diverse population, promoting an inclusive environment
Strong cross-cultural, interpersonal, organizational and writing skills are necessary, including public speaking skills and the ability to present the College in a positive way
Must be able to speak before large and small groups with confidence
Excellent professional judgment, emotional intelligence, and personal tact

Preferred Qualifications:
Bilingual: English/Spanish
Experience in higher education, particularly a community college environment
Community college alumnus/alumna
Basic familiarity with word processing, spreadsheet, presentation and database software tools
Experience utilizing a CRM tool

Additional Information:
This is a 10-month position, September 1st - June 30th.
Salary range: $46,000-$54,000
