POSITION SUMMARY:

The Regional Human Resources (HR) Manager is responsible for directing the daily human resources activities and human resource needs of the assigned region. This position will provide Human Resources services to staff and management to maintain and improve all aspects of the employee experience. The Regional HR Manager will resolve employee relations issues and problems and coordinate the performance management process for the region. This individual will demonstrate continuous efforts to drive improvement in the engagement of staff and will perform HR-related duties on a professional level in collaboration with senior management and HR Leadership. The Regional HR Manager must be able to build relationships and establish credibility with both staff and managers throughout the assigned region. They must also be able to recognize and effectively adapt to changes in practices, policies, and protocols.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as the first point of contact for managers as well as staff. Consult on a wide spectrum of HR issues including guidance on staff member engagement, performance management and organizational development/design, including the development of job descriptions, etc. Refer benefits, payroll and leave uses to HR Operations team, as appropriate.
  • Proactively identify staff engagement opportunities to improve and enhance the staff member experience and take initiative in developing and implementing appropriate action plans.
  • May lead HR initiatives within the region and providing leadership on complex staff issues (i.e. investigations, progressive discipline, harassment or discrimination allegations, etc).
  • Continually monitor changing regulations to ensure region is in fully compliant with all local, state and federal regulatory requirements including ADA, FMLA, FLSA, Title VII, etc.
  • Actively participate in the design and execution of all Onboarding activities for region to ensure effective assimilation into the organization as well as compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of People Policies and ensuring consistent interpretation of policy throughout the region.
  • Respond to Unemployment claims and represent the organization at hearings, as needed.
  • Viewed as a credible HR partner to both managers and staff members.
  • Facilitate training where appropriate and assigned.
  • Effectively hire, coach, and develop assigned staff members to ensure they are providing the highest level of support to managers and staff members within the assigned region, where applicable.
  • Provide clear and direct feedback to direct reports, conduct performance reviews, and coaching sessions to develop staff, where applicable.
  • Participate in special projects as needed and assigned and/or may participate in the development of more junior HR staff, if needed.
  • Act as a change agent to drive Self-Help’s economic inclusion initiatives by integrating supplier diversity and the use of businesses owned by women and people of color in third party contracting and vendor management for relevant products and services
  • Perform other duties as may be deemed necessary.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s in human resources or related field OR equivalent related experience; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 6 years of experience in Human Resources including experience in handling employee relations, performance management, and organizational design.
  • Demonstrated success in managing HR staff and ensuring team provides the highest level of support to managers and staff.

  • Preference for working in organizations that place priority on teamwork and collaboration
  • Strong knowledge of state and federal employment regulations.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to develop and deliver effective presentations.
  • Ability to effectively plan, organize and prioritize work as well as juggle multiple projects to meet goals, objectives, and deadlines.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Proficiency with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and experience working with HRIS systems. Experience with UltiPro preferred.
  • Ability and willingness to travel and work overtime as needed.
