We are looking for a Regional Category Manager specialized in food products To complement the regional procurement team, we are looking for a Regional Category Manager for the ”dry/chilled provisions” category. In this role you will become a strategic partner and have overall responsibility for creating, maintaining, and improving inbound supply chains for the Wrist Ship Supply organization through building relations with the regional vendor community and create the best possible sourcing position for Wrist, considering total cost price, quality, availability and logistics.

You will have significant freedom in building and maintaining a strong supplier portfolio, initiate and close significant contract negotiations and generally keep abreast of category market movements and consumer requirements.

In this role you will work close with the sales team in analyzing market data identify the relevant assortments, based on our customers’ consumer patterns.

With reference to our Regional Procurement manager, you will become part of a strong team. The position is preferably based in Long Beach, CA, USA, or we may consider remote work with minimum two work days a week out of our Houston or New Orleans branch.

Key responsibilities:

• Total cost optimization: Analyze purchasing trends, commodity development, execute benchmarking and convert into financial improvement of the business. Search the market for identification of new vendors and opportunities and incorporate those in the business.
• Working Capital optimization (Days of Payment Outstanding, Days of Sales Inventory).
• Contract coverage and compliance.
• Develop category strategy, including objectives and targets and execute on global category strategies agreed with global category manager
• Assortment development and execution: Understand consumer patterns and translate the data into new products/assortments and/or new vendors. Optimize assortments and COGS throughout the organization by leading the definition, item alignment and roll out of global and regional assortment programs

• Supplier relations management to maximize cooperation.

Qualifications & requirements:

• As a person you are result oriented, decisive and action oriented. You manage your stakeholders well and can drive alignment. Your approach is data driven and your decisions are based on facts.

• You possess strong negotiation-, communication- and influencing skills. You have a longer experience with global sourcing and a strong procurement toolbox. You have experience in building assortments in cooperation with sales.
• Plus 5 years Procurement Category Management experience with specialty in the food category. Preferable experience from working in a global matrix organization.
• Global experience is a significant advantage
