Tropical Shipping is seeking a Reefer Monitor to join our team of professionals at our West Palm Beach, Florida location!

This is an entry-level position

The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, accountability, a solid work ethic and commitment to excellence.

This role is responsible for performing fueling duties and assisting in yard operations, including equipment moves and washing of refrigeration units. Performs maintenance, repair and replacement of load line cords, ends and switches. Monitors loaded refrigeration units for proper operation. Pre-trips refrigerated units and ensures proper maintenance standards prior to container use by customer.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Assists Refrigeration Department personnel in all yard operations to ensure container readiness for customer
• Monitors all loaded reefers and maintains daily record. Checks Avenue "E" terminal and port reefer lines on a regular basis. Checks Avenue "E" terminal and port reefer lines hourly for new units added and temperature discrepancies on existing units.
• Plugs all electric and diesel/electric units to the load line receptacles. Maintains electric cords.
• Performs fueling duties and acts as back-up Fueler when necessary
• Performs pre-tipping duties to ensure container is ready for customer on a timely basis. Ensures maintenance standards are met.
• Operates jockey truck, fuel truck, fork-lift, and spreader as needed. Ensures assigned vehicle is kept clean and maintained.
• Assists refrigeration mechanics are needed
• Performs all other duties as assigned

Educational Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent (Preferred)

Experience Requirements:

• No experience required

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to twist, bend, reach, squat, kneel, climb on equipment
• Push and/or pull 50 pounds
