SUMMARY: The Recruiting Specialist is responsible for coordinating recruitment activities for full life-cycle recruiting: recruit, screen and recommend placement of staff by using creative sourcing methods for a 2,200 employee state-of-the-art pork processing facility and beyond. This includes developing creative strategies and programs to attract candidates at for all levels of positions within the organization.
- Will be cross-trained in all areas of the department. Will be responsible for multiple administrative tasks as assigned by the Supervisor and/or Manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: This list is not intended to be all-inclusive and other duties may be assigned.
- Assist in coordinating the sourcing and review of candidates at all levels of the organization, both locally and nationally, as directed.
- Screens resumes/applications, interviews candidates (by phone or in person), administer appropriate assessments, reference/background checking, make recommendations for hire (or not hire) and deliver employment offers for both exempt and non-exempt position openings.
- Make recommendations for creative recruitment solutions if the organization is experiencing difficulties in attracting the appropriate level and quality of candidates.
- Must be able to research, propose, plan and execute new recruiting efforts and effectively collaborate with the recruiting team.
- Coordinate advertising programs and social media campaigns in order to insure high visibility with potential candidates.
- Represent Seaboard Triumph Foods at job fairs by conveying to candidates a positive, inviting and respectful workplace, consistent with the organization’s branding strategy.
- Must be able to build and maintain strong networking relationships.
- Must become familiar with production practices and processes and plant staffing requirements in order to effectively recruit and place employees in open positions.
- Maintain confidentiality of all applicant information and Human Resources Department records.
- Must be able to work independently, with minimal supervision. Must be able to work some flexible hours (nights/weekends).
- Deliver exceptional customer service with a primary focus on operational excellence, proactive, competitive and cost-effective recruitment solutions.
- Communicates important employment information during delivery of employment offers (i.e. benefits, compensation, etc.).
- Works with hiring managers to ensure compliance with all federal/state laws and regulations including Affirmative Action Plan compliance.
- Manages current candidate activity in the Applicant Tracking System (ATS).
- Manages application/resume file and retention according to company policy.
- Any other duties assigned by the supervisor or manager.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, business, or other related discipline and significant experience in recruiting and/or other areas within human resources. Experience in food manufacturing desired. Must have sufficient experience to be comfortable with high-volume recruitment for a start-up operation. Must be resourceful, self-sufficient and able to adapt to a fast-paced environment.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and/or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, and employees. Must have the ability to influence and persuade others.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents in the English language such as applications, training materials and procedure manuals. Must be able to effectively communicate with candidates, hiring managers and others within and outside of the organization. Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) preferred.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to apply mathematical applications to practical situations. Must possess strong analytical and metric-based skills.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical, diagram, written and/or verbal form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Must have strong personal computer skills and understanding of recruiting metrics and reports required. Must hold a valid driver’s license due to periodic business travel.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to move about the facility. The employee is required to sit; use hands to finger; handle; or feel/hold objects; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; speak, hear, taste, and smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vison, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Individual must be able to effectively work in a normal production environment where temperatures and noise levels may vary. Generally the incumbent must be able to sit and use a computer for extended periods of time.
