Job description
Scope: Continuously monitor transportation activities to successfully achieve desired service level and company goals, while reducing costs.
Task Complexity: Works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors.
Oversight: Normally receives general instructions on routine work, detailed instructions on new projects or assignments.
Duties, Tasks, and Responsibilities:
- Ensure on-time and accurate transportation planning for all outbound and inbound Rail Car movements
- Develop and sustain carrier relationships
- Provide daily management of transportation operations
- Dispatch cars with carriers
- Evaluate and implement continuous improvement on freight service and freight cost
- Become the key point of contact for SAP-TM responsibilities
- Coordinate with production planning, sales, customer service and terminals to achieve on-time service results
- Publish and update rates
- Track and trace all commodity rail cars and barges on a daily basis
- Support the Transportation Rail Planner
Experience:
- A minimum of 2 years Rail Transportation experience focusing on carrier sourcing or operations.
- Industry experience preferred: Automotive, Retail, Bulk Liquids, Chemicals, or 3PL.
- Proficient in MS-Office and SAP
- Hazardous materials certification desired
Skills:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to problem solve and identify trends
- High degree of integrity
- Knowledge of transportation laws, freight tariffs, and distribution methods
- Self-motivated. Works well under pressure and a sense of urgency
- Must be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Transportation, Logistics, or Supply Chain or equivalent qualified experien
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $36,721.81 - $169,710.52 per year
