A Quality Engineer is in a hands-on test role that serves as a team’s quality practice thought leader capable of making improvements to test processes/practices. This role is best served by a self-starting person that has a unique mix of test plan/execution, test process design, and essential software programming skills and knowledge. They have a passion for engaging with technical users to discover, design, and contribute to the evolution of the best fit test frameworks and systems.

About the role
- Works collaboratively in a cross-functional team that owns the development and success of a FireMon software product used in security operations use cases.
- Plan, execute, and track testing activities and milestones in an agile environment.
- Participates in backlog refinement to identify test plan and cases for planned changes.
- Informs engineering team leads on designing applications for testability.
- Collaborates with engineering team leaders and managers on software delivery risks.
- Ensures test environments remain in good working order to support test process.
- Assists Development Leads in monitoring for health of application deployments in test environments, health of regression tests, and app risks.
- Mentor fellow testers and developers on effective testing practices.
- Audit test cases and test data for adherence to best practices.
- Identifies requirements for test tools.
- Evaluate test technologies and approaches to streamline or improve test process.
- Participate in code reviews and team meetings, providing technical insight.
- Identify, document, prioritize and track bugs/issues.
- Reproduce and troubleshoot customer issues in-house for resolution.
Skills and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or another related field or work experience that developed the base computer science knowledge.
- Proven experience with complete solution testing experience across multiple languages or with full stack software development.
- Understanding of Java and TypeScript required. Development experience a plus.
- Understanding use of Unix/Linux shell and common operating system commands
- Effective communicator and collaborator.
- Experience identifying and executing on test process improvements.
- Experience identifying and improving on test skills.
- Experience with proactive monitoring and troubleshooting issues in test systems.
- Experience and knowledge of Business Process Management applications is a plus.
- Knowledge of network & network security management concepts preferred.
- Experience testing network devices using either manual or automated testing strategies preferred.
$90,000 - $120,000 a year
