GTFC- West is a design-build engineered aggregate pier company. We design and install ground improvement/intermediate foundation solutions for the support of settlement sensitive structures in good to poor soils.
Experience for this position is not required, but earthwork or soils experience is a plus. We are looking for a candidate with an aptitude for techincal observation, attention to detail, and good note taking abilities. Specialized training will be provided onsite and at the office in Hillsboro.
This job will require working in the elements and being on your feet for much of the day.
Geotech Foundation Company-West’s (GTFC-West) QUALITY CONTROL/SAFETY OFFICER (QC/SO) position reports to the FOREMAN. The QC/SO’s primary responsibility is to maintain the highest standard in quality and production capacity for pier element construction and to ensure project worksite safety of ZERO INJURIES, ZERO ACCIDENTS, ZERO DAMAGES as outlined in GTFC-West’s Safety Policies and Program.
The QC/SO is expected to know and effectively execute all duties and responsibilities listed in the QC/SO PROCESS MANUAL. Knowledge of the OPERATOR PROCESS MANUAL is also required to be able to effectively implement the safety aspects of equipment operation and to understand the quality of work that can be accomplished with each piece of equipment. If needed, under special circumstances, the QC/SO will assist construction performing OPERATOR duties.

QUALITY CONTROL
· Continual observations:
o To correctly and consistently classify drill spoils and soil conditions.
o Of soil types, groundwater during pier drilling, conditions in each pier hole during construction relative to constructability, anticipated subsurface conditions vs actual, and observation standards necessary for successful, safe pier element installation.
· Assure each pier element is constructed:
o As designed.
o Meets established quality requirements.
o All monitoring and testing are completed and successful.
· Direct coordination with the project QA Inspector, GTFC-West project team, and any applicable project personnel.
o Daily review and comparison of installation records.
o Pier progress status, staking, and next day preparation readiness.
· Oversee deflection monitor equipment, puck crush equipment, and any equipment specific to pier element testing:
o Proper usage, loading/unloading, testing of equipment, cleaning, and general maintenance.
· Record keeping
o All records, forms, project documents and files that are the responsibility of the QC/SO are accurate, complete, submitted to all necessary parties and finished within the required time frames.
o Maintain all GTFC-West forms, templates, documents, and publications in their original state, without moving, duplicating and/or altering unless authorized by the FOREMAN or the OPERATIONS MANAGER (OM).
· CHANGE OF CONDITIONS
o First line of defense to immediately and properly identify when a CHANGE OF CONDITIONS reporting is necessary and communicate effectively to the required parties.
o Working together with the FOREMAN and/or the OM perform an accurate, professional, step by step execution of the CHANGE OF CONDITIONS process.
SAFETY
· GTFC-West authorized on site Safety Officer.
o Onsite “Competent Person” as defined per Regulations (Standards – 29 CFR) 1926.32(f).
§ “One who is capable of identifying existing and predictable hazards in the surroundings or working conditions which are unsanitary, hazardous, or dangerous to employees, and who has authorization to take prompt corrective measures to eliminate them.”
o Required Training:
§ Completion of the Federal OSHA 30-hour Construction Course.
§ Current CPR/First Aid certification.
· Responsible for project site safety:
o Thorough knowledge of GTFC-West’s Safety Policies and Program and consistently applying these policies for project and worksite safety.
o Immediately halting production if an unsafe condition is observed.
o Maintaining a clean and organized production site.
o Safely organizing the flow of workers and equipment traffic during pier construction.
Conduct weekly Safety Tailgate meetings.
Must be willing to travel to jobsites throughout the west for up to 3 weeks.
HS Dipolma or GED and good driving record strongly preferred.
Veteran owned and military service is greatly appreciated.

Pay: $28.00 - $30.00 per hour
