The Control Systems Manager is responsible for supporting the design, installation, commissioning, and operation of a new Battery Active Material (BAM) factory. This position will lead the engineering team tasked with the control system design and construction of the world’s largest production facility of next generation lithium silicon anode materials.


WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:


  • Assist in the design and commissioning of the control systems for BAM-2, our new state of the art facility in Moses Lake, WA.
  • Act as the control systems subject matter expert and be accountable for the programming, configuration, software, and hardware of various facility control systems such as the DCS, SIS, PLCs, HMIs, MES, Data Historian, and SCADA.
  • Define control system architecture, technical requirements, and site standards that ensure continuity across all control systems, while leveraging industry best practices for continuous improvement and management of change.
  • Develop and maintain a controls strategy that supports the facility and anticipates the future needs of the facility’s control systems by leveraging emerging technologies.
  • Ensure that all work is in alignment with Group14’s commitment to safety and the environment with specific ownership of facility safe operating controls.
  • Address shortcomings in control system documentation and implement a robust methodology to ensure documentation remains accurate and current.
  • Define, recruit, manage, and develop a team of skilled engineers and technicians capable of supporting the facility’s commissioning and routine operations.
  • Other related duties/functions as assigned.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:


  • 4 year degree in engineering or related discipline (Electrical, Mechatronics, Mechanical, or Computer Science degree).
  • 10+ years of directly related experience in control systems engineering, industrial engineering, process controls, or automated manufacturing is required.
  • Exceptional verbal and written ability with the aptitude to communicate professionally with direct reports, production personnel, and contractors.
  • Good leadership and good engineering practice. Experience (or strong desire to learn) in using collaboration tools (such as SharePoint) for project execution.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to foster a positive work environment.
  • Willingness and ability to manage and lead the controls systems team.

OTHER SKILLS WE’D LOVE FOR YOU TO HAVE:


  • SCADA/HMI application development, Data Historians, MES.
  • PLC/DCS/SIS programming, debugging, troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of industrial networks, virtual machines, thin clients, cybersecurity.
  • Experience with VFDs, robotics, machine vision, barcode scanners.
  • Startup and commissioning experience, preferably in chemical processing.

The base pay range for this role is $115,000 to $135,000. Actual pay depends on various factors, such as complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills.
