Pay Range:
$24.00 - 27.00hr

Schedule:
Monday - Friday | 7:30AM - 3:30PM

We seek a detailed and engaged Purchasing Clerk who will compile requests for materials, prepare purchase orders, keep track of purchases and supplies, and handle inquiries about orders. Our Purchasing Clerk will be skilled in gathering information and records to draw up purchase orders for the procurement of materials and services. In addition, the Purchasing Clerk will respond to customer and supplier inquiries about order status, changes, or cancellations, monitor inventory, perform buying duties when necessary, and contact suppliers to schedule or expedite deliveries and will have responsibilities that include but are not limited to:

  • Entering purchase orders into the system and posting the purchase order information into the bill of material
  • Choosing suppliers from the approved supplier list and only from the customer’s approved supplier list when required by our customer.
  • Evaluating suppliers by considering the price, quality, availability, and other criteria.
  • Generating requests for quotes (“RFQs”) for any material or services needed based on the information provided by production control, manufacturing, estimating, engineering, or quality to include quoting more than one source whenever possible.
  • Following up on RFQs to assure timely response from suppliers.
  • Negotiating with suppliers to obtain the best price, delivery, and quality on all materials and services to be purchased.
  • Awarding purchase orders based on price, delivery, and quality history of the supplier only.
  • Interacting with suppliers to schedule delivery times and resolve shipping errors.
  • Interviewing vendors and visiting suppliers’ facilities to learn about products, services, and pricing.
  • Verifying purchases by comparing them to a master list and recommending alternatives for expensive or irrelevant products.
  • Maintaining electronic files of purchase orders filed by purchase order number on the network.
  • Ensure all applicable quality and customer-specified requirements are submitted to suppliers.
  • Maintaining receipts, records, and inventories.
  • Notifying management of any delivery, cost, or quality problems.

Our successful candidate will possess:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED);
  • 2 years' experience in purchasing.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Must be adaptable to a changing work environment and competing demands.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $24.00 - $27.00 per hour

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekend availability
