Job description
Summary:
This position monitors and analyzes current and historic information for assigned commodities either direct or indirect for the purpose of purchasing materials to support sales forecasts, customer orders, for production or facility requirements, while maintaining appropriate inventory levels.
Essential Functions/Duties:
Check computer generated analysis to determine the amount of raw material to be purchased to satisfy sales forecasts and customer orders.
Ability to effectively support the purchase price by analyzing quantity to purchase and the cost per unit to the pricing matrix or quote.
Review all production advisements to adjust raw material needs, timing, and levels to support production and scheduling.
Work with various departments; Sales, Engineering, Art, Scheduling, Production, and to insure correct raw or indirect material is on order and to be delivered to Company facilities on time.
Understanding of the requisition process from order to pay.
Work with Customer vendors on co-manufactured products.
Procure quotes when required from vendors for new and repeat purchases of raw materials.
Check specifications for new and repeat items.
Conduct and/or request inventory counts as needed to adjust inventory levels.
Work with vendors on raw material deliveries and unitizing of raw material purchasing.
Clear understanding on inventory levels affecting space, financials, and product lifecycle.
Job Qualification Requirements
Knowledge of sales forecasting methods to make correct raw material purchases.
Knowledge of Packaging Materials as it relates to food products. (corrugate, bags, boxes, film, foil, labels)
Ability to plan and solve problems associated with purchasing.
Must be able to interact with a broad spectrum of employees.
Must understand best purchasing methods within confines of vendor capabilities.
Must have good communication with vendors to insure on time deliveries.
Must work with co-manufacturing procedures and purchases.
Experience:
This position requires three (3) years experience in purchasing/buying.
Physical Activities/Requirements/Conditions:
Sedentary work in a normal office environment with occasional exposure to manufacturing, warehouse and distribution environment. This position requires frequent talking, hearing, and manual dexterity activities as well as frequent visual activity (near vision). Walking is required daily.
