PickNik is seeking a dynamic, collaborative, and detail-oriented Proposal Manager and Writer to join our sales team. In this role you are responsible for development of accurate, compelling messaging and high-quality content for proposals, SOWs, and government contracts. The Proposal Manager and Writer must exhibit strong writing skills to ensure consistency and clarity to meet sales objectives and customer needs. This person can talk about technical products and services while supporting the sales team in moving deals through the final stage of our sales pipeline. Proposals will cover both our products and services including multi-million dollar space contracts. Additional responsibilities include establishing proposal estimates with our senior engineers, working with our external lawyers through redlines, and ensuring that the key customer pain points are captured in every outgoing proposal. What you'll be working on:
- Create and review proposals, purchase orders, and statements of work.
- Own the process of bringing in senior engineers and subject matter experts to perform technical estimation and scoping.
- Facilitate and participate in discussions with key internal resources to develop case-specific proposal response strategies, questions, work plans, etc.
- Discuss with internal technical experts to inform responses to client questions.
- Capture, shape, and synthesize information to reflect a cohesive message, written in one voice.
- Research, write, and organize information in a compelling, professional, and credible manner.
- Translate technical information and business jargon into clear, consistent, and grammatically correct content.
- Editing and revising content according to feedback.
- Utilize and improve existing sales proposal and budget templates.
- Attend sales calls of qualified customers, listening carefully to customer concerns, and asking insightful questions to gain clarity on how to write a responsive proposal.
- With the support of the account executive, co-present SOWs and proposals to customers on calls.
- Support our existing government contract bidding process.
- Own the maintenance and organization of the company CRM to support accurate sales projections.
- Bring weekly and quarterly sales KPIs to the leadership meeting every Monday.
- Work closely with Project Managers to create project renewal proposals and ensure they are signed 1-2 months before the prior contract lapses.
- Work with company lawyers through redlines to reach agreeable terms with customers.
- Prepare service pages, case studies, and other sales collateral for proposals.
- Manage sales enablement content such as scripts, decks, templates, etc to keep our sales processing running efficiently.
Requirements
- Bachelors' degree in Engineering, Business, Communications, Journalism, or equivalent technical experience.
- 6+ years proposal writing, sales support, engineering, or project management.
- Ability to effectively communicate with potential customers and build relationships.
- Ability to sell "on paper" and meet strict deadlines.
- Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills.
- Knowledge and experience in engaging both C-level executives and engineering leadership
- Knowledge of budgeting, cost estimating, legal reviews, and contractual procedures.
- Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.
- Strong knowledge of Google Docs, Google Sheets, or Microsoft equivalents.
- US residency (US Citizen or Permanent Resident).
- Live in the Boulder/Denver area and ability to be in-office minimum 2-3 days per week.
Additional Preferred Skills/Experience
- Previous experience in a sales support role
- Understanding of the robotics industry and key players.
- Technical knowledge of robotics, manufacturing, or automation.
- Experience selling SaaS, perpetual licensed software, or open core software.
- Experience negotiating and contracting with government agencies.
Colorado Residents Only: In accordance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the salary for this role is $80,000 - $150,000 plus benefits. The maximum compensation for this role can vary significantly depending on your job-related skills and experience.
