Job description
The Johns Hopkins team on the Bloomberg Initiative for Global Road Safety (BIGRS) project is looking for a Program Officer . The Program Officer will support day-to-day operations of the Johns Hopkins team at the central level. Working closely with the BIGRS Lead, Global Program Manager, and Regional Managers, the PO will provide assistance with programmatic oversight for the implementation of BIGRS activities. PO will assist with ensuring strong collaboration among BIGRS partners and regional teams by developing and instituting program management processes which will allow for tracking progress as well. The position will be responsible for writing program reports and plans for the donor and will also regularly contribute to other non-scientific writing. PO will also work with JHU-IIRU leadership and team members for writing grant proposals and contribute to other business development activities for the unit.Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Work collaboratively with other program staff for efficient program planning, organizing, implementing, monitoring and reporting of BIGRS activities, and facilitate in developing an effective support environment for team members to implement their technical and programmatic activities/interventions.
Lead in writing quality reports to the donor and ensure timely submissions; assist team members in business and other writing.
Assist regional managers in work planning, reporting, monitoring and evaluation.
Work collaboratively with program staff/partners to ensure that resources for effective and timely program implementation are available.
Participate in monitoring and evaluation of activities across BIGRS cities, as needed.
Work collaboratively with finance staff to prepare and track the progress of project and activity budgets.
Ensure timely, accurate and appropriate reporting of program activities and results to the donor.
Ensure compliance with JHU and Bloomberg Philanthropies operational policies and regulations.
Identify and promote opportunities for new business and sources of funding.
Contribute to proposal management, design, writing, and editing.
Participate in the review of programmatic portions of business development proposals.
Promote and support knowledge management and sharing efforts, including uploading/managing documents onto BIGRS knowledge management sites.
Contribute to the development of novel knowledge management and sharing tools and processes.
Minimum Qualifications
Master's Degree in a related field.
Three years related experience.
Additional education may substitute for experience and additional experience may substitute for education to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula..
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrable experience/understanding of health systems and/or road safety.
Special Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Must be detail oriented. Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills required. Must have exceptional written, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills.
