United Electronic Industries (UEI), a rapidly growing manufacturer of computer-based data acquisition and control products headquartered in Norwood, MA, has an immediate opening for an experienced Production Planner.

SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Production Planner will perform a variety of planning and scheduling duties required to ensure the timely procurement and/or manufacture of components needed to satisfy customer requirements and meet company goals. Will create and maintain production schedule for all assigned resources to ensure on-time and in-full delivery.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work directly with Operations to ensure all required production is scheduled to meet timelines.
- Balance production requirements with Sales, Engineering, and Operations teams.
- Prepare daily production schedule and recommend changes to minimize quality or on-time delivery issues consistent with plant capacity and resources.
- Maintain order backlog including initial order scheduling based on capacity plan, material availability, and production constraints.
- Coordinate with Electronics Buyer/Planner on raw materials and outside services to manage customer orders.
- Identify gaps within the process and drive solutions, including metrics on production performance and on time delivery.
- Manage inventory planning including targeted inventory turns, safety stocks, excess, and obsolescence.
- Drive objectives for optimum delivery, lead times, inventory turns, revenue attainment, etc.
- Review MRP action report. Determine priorities for releasing work orders based on availability of parts and due dates.
- Responsible for committing delivery dates on firm orders based on Production and Quality capacity requirements planning.
- Define sequence, establish priorities for all process orders at each work center, and track the execution of orders.
- Support studies and analysis based on new scenarios, projects, budget cycles, or reforecast.
- Gather and analyze data for metrics and KPIs for the area.
- Review workloads with Director of Operations, set priorities, and expedite orders as required.
- Maintain list of parts shortages.
- Create rework orders for parts that require rework.
- Assist with packaging and shipping of orders, as needed.
- Perform primary backup duties for Receiving/Production/Shipping Coordinator function.
- Provide administrative support for operations group.
- Produce a variety of reports and distribute as required.
REQUIREMENTS:
- U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency required due to government military contracts.
- Bachelor s Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business or Operations.
- 3-5 years experience with buying/supply chain.
- Proficiency with Microsoft (Excel, MS Word, Outlook, and MS Project).
- Prior experience with Sage MAS200 and NetSuite.
- Prior experience in Circuit Card Assembly (CCA) planning.
- Analytical skills and system driven mindset with critical thinking abilities.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with the ability to interact with individuals at all levels, both internally and externally
- Electronic component knowledge.
- Familiarity with RoHS/WEEE issues and mitigation strategies.
- Prior experience in an ISO environment executing vendor surveys and audits.
- Collaborative work style and critical thinking abilities.
- Works well in a small company environment and is self-motivated.
