A professional and tech savvy production and materials planner who will manage and support the scheduling of materials and production as part of the overall team. You are highly organized, detail-oriented, communicate effectively and able to work independently and as part of a team. You will be responsible for reviewing customer requirements and translating those demands into a production schedule that considers the availability of material, labor and capacity. The Production Planner generates a production plan for assigned products and oversees the disposition of those products and other assigned materials. The Production Planner coordinates with Business Development, Project Management, Quality and Sonic’ manufacturing partners and suppliers to meet and exceed delivery commitments clients.

Some of What You Will Do

  • Reviews material and resource availability to meet customer requests (and/or forecasts) and confirms to Business Development and Project Management an Available-to-Promise schedule.
  • Creates and reviews requests for necessary materials and components and communicates them through the ERP system and other communications.
  • Schedules Work Orders (WO) in the ERP and Manufacturing systems and prepares all required documentation (specifications, labels, etc.) in conjunction with Business Development, Project Management and Quality.
  • Prepares manufacturing schedules and agendas for production meetings. Monitors the status of production and inventory to meet delivery commitments. Establishes priorities and expedites as needed.
  • Oversees the issue and movement of component material and packaging to meet the requirements of the released Work Orders and Purchases Orders.
  • Reviews material usage variances with the team according to guidelines.
  • Works with the team to coordinate the disposition of discrepant materials.
  • Assists with inventory updates, maintenance and discrepancy resolution.
  • Planning, scheduling and coordinating production
  • Evaluating inventory to ensure everything is in place for production
  • Heavy communication with filler partners on equipment availability and scheduling shifts to provide proper coverage
  • Reporting on the production status and any production issues to upper management
  • Handling production disruptions and productivity problems
  • Using forecasts to anticipate necessary production changes
  • Monitor incoming orders, supply chain problems and inventory issues to minimize the impact on production
  • Support internal and external audit activities including customer audits, supplier audits and ISO certification.
  • Respond to requests from Sales Support, Sales team, Project Coordination and Internal management.
  • Operate office machines including, but not limited to photocopiers and scanners, facsimile machines, voicemail systems, personal computers, calculators, headsets, etc.

What You Need

  • Knowledge and experience in production and materials planning
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Outlook and Word.
  • NetSuite ERP system experience highly desired.
  • Attention to detail
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Solid organizational skills, including multitasking and time-management.
  • Must be able to work in a group and independently within a fast paced and casual atmosphere.
  • College preferred
  • Experience working within ISO guidelines
  • Minimum 5 years production and materials planning experience
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required.
  • Ability to commute reliably to our office in Westwood, NJ.
