Join our team at Spartan Steel Coating/Worthington Industries as a Production Associate. The primary role for our entry position is to safely manufacture quality parts in a fast paced environment. Duties include a variety of tasks, including, but not limited to: packaging, banding coils, testing, problem solving, material handling, welding, and quality control. The ultimate goal of the Production Associate is to achieve excellence in all facets of the role: providing the highest quality service safely, while efficiently increasing profits. Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
- Enters set-up code, run code and related comments into work station computer.
- Sets up and adjusts machine to accurately fit specs
- Runs machine to produce product to proper customer specifications.
- Inputs total piece, finished product, unit and scrap counts into work station computer.
- Directs and works along with other operators to complete set-up procedure and production run in the most efficient time and manner for each order on equipment assigned to operate.
- Performs packaging & material handling duties.
- Provides assistance throughout the production area.
- Performs clean-up activities in production and on the grounds as assigned.
- Regular and reliable attendance.
- Follows all quality set-up, run and check out procedures for accuracy and quality.
- Knows, understands, and follows all plant safety rules and policies and procedures.
Desired Experience
- Must be able to handle physical, repetitive work and be able to stand on your feet for 12 hours a day
- Must have good hand-eye coordination
- Mechanical aptitude a plus, but not required
- Competent in basic math and computer skills
- Can operate banding tools
- Can read a tape measure
- Must be able to handle small parts
- Must understand and follow the quality policy and procedures
- Ability to recognize quality issues and problems – detect defects
- Must be able to read, comprehend and follow detailed instructions on productions and understand English
- Must be able to read and understand bill of material and or production order
- Must be able to distinguish between part numbers and sizes
- Must be able to count and label parts accurately
- Must follow all safety policies and procedures
- Must have good safety awareness and efficiency skills
- Oral and written communication skills – including legible writing
- 0-6 months prior experience
- Forklift and crane license
- Must have valid driver’s license
