Job description
Gilman Precision, located in Grafton, WI, the leader in providing high precision linear and rotary motion solutions worldwide, is adding a team member to our Engineering department to design our products to meet our customer's needs. Gilman develops customized slides and spindles for value-minded engineers with exacting needs and standards.
Primary Responsibilities
Analyze and interpret engineering data submitted for new products and components, modifications and changes affecting standard products. Review new or current products for applications, cost reductions, and quality improvements.
Develop engineering designs, drawings and specifications for customer applications.
Utilize sketches, available information and data to formulate and visualize original design concepts, calculate and check specifications; establish tolerances and dimensions not specified to determine requirements as to capacities, operating requirements, and material selections.
Resolve technical problems, analyze design concepts as to feasibility of manufacturing, to recommend technical and design changes as may be applicable to improvement of design, quality, operating performance and reliability, and reduction of costs.
Work closely with purchasing on matters pertaining to the procurement of materials or components.
Confer with manufacturing personnel to provide assistance to production operations, tooling requirements, feasibility of manufacture, labor and material cost estimates.
Help sales personnel in the quoting of new products and preparation of proposal drawings of design and writing of technical information.
Establish testing procedures and inspection reports.
Assist in resolving field technical problems.
Prepare Engineering drawings for customers and manufacturing production.
Educational and Experience Requirements
Requires a knowledge of engineering practices and principles as typically acquired in a four year degree in Engineering and a knowledge of products and product applications as generally acquired in three to five years of product engineering experience in a manufacturing environment. Ability to operate Autocad 2D and Inventor 3D CAD software. Ability to create bills of materials.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
